Live from Toronto 2006 dvd

... im trying to figure out what this "Coldplay Love Actually" dvd is... and i cant find any solid information about it... this it the Futureshop.ca description says

In 2000, the British band Coldplay emerged seemingly out of nowhere to become an international phenomenon with simple, straightforward pop-rock that is striking even in the post-everything 21st century. This unauthorized biography chronicles the Brit-rockers' meteoric rise to fame through rarely seen footage and interviews with friends and colleagues like Mike Patton, Martin Roach, Rachel Hopper, and Ron Niblett.

A google search of the names listed shows that with each name listed, the possibility for connection to Coldplay is less and less. I couldnt even find someone named "Ron Niblett"on the internet.. ? what the heck.. i didnt know any of these people are Coldplay's "freinds and colleagues".. almost all the Google results for Coldplay Love Actually shows the same picture and the same description... and the release dates given dont make sense either, i mean if it was really an unoffical CD, why is thier so many diffrent dates for the release.. and why would you be able to preorder it? i mean who would preorder an unoffical release?

I also talked to an HMV employee (Toronto), and he looked up in his computer that it would be releasing on October the 24th.

From reading comments...maybe it will ALSO be broadcasted on TV at a later date..

Im not 100% sure, but i can 100% confirm that the DVD will be coming out on the 24th

maybe the coldplay site and beds are playing with us. i just went to HMV and there was a Yellow box that said "New Coldplay DVD, As about Pre-Order".

hummm, how many days are left :) til the 'release date'

The Coldplay "Love Actually" dvd has been discussed before in the MM section and it's actually just an unofficial documentary. As for HMV telling people here that the release date is Oct. 24... well I have no idea. As it was said before, HMV is a huge Canadian chain and they wouldn't lie like that to us right? Unless they were clueless about the whole fiasco and EMI failed to inform them.

Well, I'm going to the mall today, so I plan to ask HMV myself too

IMO if they dont release a DVD I would probably stop listening to them. There is no excuse when they say they are going to take a year off and then not put out a DVD of which they allready have the footage to do so. I take that as a total "We dont give a crap about our fans." statement from the band.

COMMERCIALISM SAYS ONLY ONE THING. There will be DVD!

If there is no DVD I am pretty certain it would be a record company decision and not a Coldplay decision.

Yes, but Coldplay is no small band. I think that one of the biggest bands of the current time would be able to make their own decisions for the most part. It would also make sense to the label to do that also if you have a band thats bringing in the biggest chunk of change for you. Im sure that if Coldplay said "Hey! We want to put out a DVD." I dont think anyone would object.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but I also think you are underestimating the power of record companies.

Well.....I spose we'll all just have to wait for now....patience, and in the meantime, listen to Coldplay!! I wouldn't fuss over it, it isn't worth it, there is going to be more Coldplay in time - we've waited before, we can wait again.

And like RazorGirl said, don't give flak to the band, it isn't their decision in the end.

Anyway all I know is that we will find out if HMV is right in a few days.

just went to HMV, no dvd today or in the near future it seems....

yeah...that seems to be the general consensus now

I asked them, and they said that there would just be the unofficial biography which is coming out on the 31st...

Sad sad day

They might just be playing with us fans about the Toronto DVD. Make us all worked up that there is no DVD, then voila: They anounce there actually is going to be one!:sneaky:

Anyway. Read somewhere that Coldplay are going back into the studio to record their fourth album at beginning of next year. That means a new album within about a year. Awesome! Maybe there will be a DVD from the tour from that album. Long time though to wait.

I just spoke with HMV and the release date is Nov 7th you can also reserve a copy with them I hope this helps.

Ooh I soo hope they're right

I went to the 'Van Leest' (big cd-shop in Holland) a few days ago, they had this board hanging in the store that said:

upcoming dvd's

Coldplay Live in Toronto october 30th

Well, the only thing we'll have to do is wait...I still have hope there will be a dvd, eventually :)

i really dont wanna sound pessimistic, but the only DVD that is coming out on the 31st/30th is the Love Actually unofficial biography (even though it got pushed back to November the 7th....)

Im reallllllllly hoping im wrong, because i was at that concert, and it was amazing!!!!

*crosses fingers*

Well hey, if it is coming out in other places around the world, like Holland for example. it should come everywhere...well eventually haha. But i really hope it comes out soon because i was at that concert where they filmed and me and my friends were actually interviewed and they asked us before and after about what we were looking forward to and what was the best part. It was so exciting, but i didn't say much cause I was in shock of happyness, and couldn't stop smiling haha. But hey if not. lets just look forward to their new cd and seeing them live again! Because I can't wait!:D

^ at one of the melbourne concerts there was 2 people going around interviewing all the people that were in line for like 5 hours (like me) and they said they were making a doco, but I'm not sure if they ment for the tour dvd.....

Went to the shop, but no dvd they said. It was on the list, but they didn't sell it or got it.

So i ran furious away

You have to admit, EMI would have to be pretty twisted to play such a sick joke. It seems kinda rediculous that they would play a "joke" on their fans. If Debs says that there is no dvd, as much as i hope i'm wrong, there probably won't be.

But, who knows, on the other hand, this would be a massive marketing screw up for EMI, so i don't know.

Neither of these things make SENSE!!!!!!

It really really doesn't make sense. Opportunity to sell millions of dvds and they throw it away.

Has anyone actually tried contacting EMI themselves?

Debs never said there won't be a dvd, did she? She just said that it would be 'a televised event'... or did I miss something? Did she really say; sorry guys but there really isn't going to be a dvd, not now and not in the future :P

I have hope:D
