Canadian singer NELLY FURTADO has slammed old rumours she romanced British rocker CHRIS MARTIN before he met current-wife GWYNETH PALTROW. The I'M LIKE A BIRD singer was briefly linked to the COLDPLAY frontman, but insists all they've ever been is friends and work colleagues. She says, "We used to be friends when we were doing our first albums in England. "Everyone thinks that's (the rumours are) true, but no, we were just friends."

Can't be for either Jonny-boy or Gwynnie-poo. Chris said he doesn't do Green Eyes anymore because it's about an Ex. Maybe Natalie Imbruglia...sp? I think In My Place is about her too, but it's not colour-specific, and that's just gossip anyway.

 

Anytime a male and a female are seen together, everyone assumes they're an item. It's even worse in the entertainment industry. I just hope Gwyn doesn't take it seriously...lol CHRIS!! DUCK!!!

its all just rumors from ages ago. I remember chris saying green eyes was about an Ex-girlfriend also. he has still played it here and there.

Green eyes was inspired by a cat. Chris said it in an interview.. There are many versions. This is the most likely to me :) You know what interviewers are like... He will make up a funnier one some time in the future..

eek, nelly furtado doesnt seem his type. i wasnt really into them when the rumors were going round, but i dont think i would have believed them. then again, i dont think i would have believed the gwyneth rumors, either...and those turned out to be true...

what is it about chris not playing songs about exes? jesus, its a song, usually a very good one (read: WARNING SIGN!!). i think gwyn is mature enough to deal with it, and i dunno, i just think hes kinda stupid for using that as his reason not to play them.

yeah! and those are arguably two of their best songs!

Shiver is for Natalie. Chris said it himself in a 2001 show in Australia, he asks if anyone knows Natalie Imbruglia, and then that it's the only song written for an Australian girl.

 

Green Eyes is about an American girl, so can't be Nelly Furtado. I don't know if Nelly's lying a bit or not, but there's an interview (can't rememeber which!) where the interviewer is saying something to the effect of how Chris is a lady's man because he's dated Natalie Imbruglia (Chris goes "yup!") Nelly Furtado (another "yup!") and ended up with Gwyneth Paltrow (and another "yup"). So they must've been more than friends at one point or another.

whaaaaaaat? :confused: :shocked2: ive never heard this! i really doubt its true, but hey, you could be right. it just doesnt seem like it could be possible; chris doesnt strike me like a person that would resort to violence (well, at least violence that would actually hurt someone else, we all know he can take out his anger on a car).

In an interview that Debs did with Chris once, he said "Green Eyes" was about two people and that one of them was Jonny. So that's the thing we know for sure. :D :heart:

And on the AROBTTH Interview CD he says it's written about a girl that he met in America, so...I dunno *shrugs* (And Jonny was next to him, so I guess that's why he didn't mention who else it was for, heh.)

Didn't Chris give In My Place to Gwyn at a concert? I remeberd that he focused on Gwyn while he was singing it at a live 8 concert. I don't know if it is about Natalie Imbruglia...if it is real, why he is still playing that song?(It's about ex-girlfried,not wife,so he should never play it again ?!)
