Yeah, ok.....now were back to the beginning of the discussion again.

You said a few posts ago "you attacked me for SUPPORTING police DOING their job"......and I didn't attack the actual ACT of them doing their job. Their job is to serve and protect us. I am against the way the police abused their ever growing power.

Now you say "you attacked me for supporting cops breaking up a protest" which was peaceful. Your're exactly right - that is what I attacked you for, well done.

The police there thought it was funny that she got shot in the head with that rubber bullet - when she didn't break the law (as she wasn't arrested for anything) and posed no threat whatsoever - unless freedom of speech is counted as a threat??? Because that's all she was doing.

Will you please stop using the word "anti-American?" Nobody's being anti-American here.

nothing anti american or wrong about the police laughing about doing their job.

the police did their job, and did what they were sapposed to do and joked about it afterwards, nothing immoral or illegal or wrong.... so basically you ARE attacking them for doing their job. otherwise we wouldnt have this thread;)

last thing im gonna say is, police did their job, and what they were sapposed to do, nothing wrong or anti american in that or supporting that. nothing illegal or anti american about joking about it afterwards......so if you are just going after them for laughing about it aftewards then it does not matter, but to attack them for doing their job is beyond stupid

^ People, what can you do against that?

(Read the whole thread)

I didn't read it. It just sounded like blah blah blah blah blah to me *shrug*

thats shocking:rolleyes:

everything seems to sound like that to you...

gareth you cant turn this on me, you called me anti american for me supporting police doing their job...this ones all on you bud:laugh3:

Hey, I already pointed out everything you said was just pure straw man rubbish.

So this one indeed is NOT on me "bud"...

I was saying that if you continue to believe and support the police even when they cleary act in a sickening way then it is that type of behavior which is harming your country and will allow the neo-cons to lead the US into a police state.

Look, I'm not directly saying you are 'anti-american' because your obviously not, I know that - but - unwittingly you aren't helping your country by supporting this type of behavior.

Shouldn't they have arrested the woman if she was breaking the law, rather than just shooting her?

I do understand that criminals ought to be punished and in some states there's a death penalty, but that usually come after people have been arrested for breaking the law, and then tried in a court of law, then sentenced.

Ever read that comic Judge Dread?

^ exactly, as I said before - if she had been breaking the law in an aggressive way then I guess they should have arrested her - rarther then shooting her in the head with a rubber bullets when she was just standing there with a bit of cardboard above her.

Everybody can see that those Police acted with a complete lack of humnity and thought it was the funnist & best thing they did all week. Utter scum.

I never said criminals shouldn't be punished but it was made out that I maybe think police should let murderers or rapists go free - Obviously I don't think that.

lots of times people dont get arrested in cases like that. i cant tell you how many times cops have stopped me doing something illegal and should have arrested me and didnt.

so lots of times in cases like that they just try to break them up, they dont have the manpower to arrest most people

scum? they did their job and upheld the law...nothing scum about that....police arent scum when they have to use force. its obvious you think that since they used force they were scum, but sometimes they have too.....the real scum were the people breaking the law...

In this case though they did have a lot of manpower, a huge line of armed officers and big tents to have meetings in afterwards.

I think we agree that they should have arrested her, thats what they ought to have done to uphold the law and to do their jobs.

So by not arresting the female protester, and shooting her with rubber bullets, I gather you still support them (throughout this thread) as so are supporting them for doing their job badly.

If the police did their job properly I think we'd all support them more

hahaha, Indeed it is.

Well, the amount of new laws that have been passed makes almost everything a 'terrorist act' these days. That's across both sides of the Atlantic.

Did you know that for every day Tony Blair has been in 'power' a new law has been created. Well, a new offence for every day spent in office.

That's over 3,000.

In this case though they did have a lot of manpower, a huge line of armed officers and big tents to have meetings in afterwards.

If they had arrested her than that could've kicked of a riot.

Have you not noticed when theres a big involving England Football that they dont wade in and start arresting people? No they dont -they use water canon to control and disperse the crowd and then later pick up suspects when safe to do so.

That woman should be thankful she lives in America - If it had been in China she would've been killed by a tank or in an Islamic country stoned to death.

If they had arrested her than that could've kicked of a riot.

Thats a very logical way to look at this.

There's a word missing from your second paragraph, and I think it could be vital to my clever response.

However for your last paragraph, maybe she is thankful she lives in America, however this no longer concerns her, we're concerned with the police's response. Are you suggesting that the police should be congratulated for chosing to fire rubber bullets at a crowd of peaceful protestors because they chose not send tanks in, they chose not to stone the protestors, and further more, they chose not to draw swords and wade in and slaughter the lot of them. Then you've misjudged the point of this thread.

We're silently grateful that it could have been a lot worse, but it wasn't.

The controversy here is because the police could have handled it a lot better but didn't.

If this is as good as 'the land of the free' can offer, its not very good.

She was causing aggro, inciting others and she disobeyed a police order to get back.

Crowd control by a civilised society. If that had been in Iran or North Korea etc, then she'd probably be dead.

Criticizing the government in those sort of countires can be lethal.

And besides how to we know they were aiming for her specifically? Knowing the Americans they probably meant to hit someone 20 yards away.

What?

Through her sign and right on the forehead I believe was the bullets path...

You're too going to make a great slave.
