Well, in attempt to originally restore this thread to its order before it was hijacked, no, I do not know how to sing, but perhaps someone here could post links or something to pages with hints.

yes that would be great! If anyone has anything, please share!!

I was trying to sing kingdom come last night when nobody was home while playing the guitar for it, and it's not that hard, mainly because the whole song is like 7 notes.

I think singing is basically just hitting the right notes with your voice. If you have a guitar tuner you can practice.

there's a big difference between playing instruments and singing and just flat out singing.

when there's an instrument in your possession, you can get away with only hitting 4 or 5 notes and still sounding decent. just find your range in terms of those four or five notes (making sure you sing from the diaphragm and not from the throat) and you'll be in business

when singing alone with no instruments, you're really going to be under a lot of scrutiny. not only can you not get away with the 4 to 5 note combo, but you'll be expected to hit amazing ranges with really smooth flow (keep in mind, this is still coming from the diaphragm and NOT from the throat, which is a common mistake).

I'm no expert in singing by any means, but i do know a thing or two about music and musicianship. being an avid musician for 3/4 of my life (18 now) i've learned a thing or two...

honestly, if you have a shred of talent in singing (meaning, you have a decent voice) then it shouldn't be that hard to hone that skill with a little time and effort (and a lot of googling ;) ). and another thing...i suggest having a magnetic personality when on stage performing...

take chris martin for instance. by any means, he's no luciano pavorrati (spelling?) but he does have a talent (and a hell of a falsetto). but if anyone has seen them live, you know that he does more than just sing and play piano/guitar. there's a presence about him, with his histrionics and crowd interaction. play off of that. the crowd loves it.

ultimately, have a unique sound ("good" unique, not "suck" unique) and don't copy another persons voice. i've seen too many covers of coldplay songs with terrible copy cats.

hope that helps.
