indeed, what a happy Happy Mothers Day. i made my mum breakfast, a whole heap of crepes and then we made her lunch too :nice:  she deserves more. unfortunately i'll be heading back to the city tonight so we can't spoil her with dinner. today's been sweet regardless!

yeah ive got all my dads family over at our place at the moment for a BBQ. good fun :).

LOVE MUM!

aw family cookout. that's sweet, i love those! reminds me of that skit from delirious :laugh3: back in png when we would have them, aunties and uncles i never knew i had would turn up :shifty: apparently every filipino is my relative.

Hurrah for our dear Moms!! Glad the two of you had a good day with your families. Everyday should be Mothers Day though - whatever would we do without them?

Tomorrow there's a international cultural fair on campus with food, music, dance and plenty of fun...so Mom and I are going to spend the afternoon at that. Can't wait! :nice:

that's got fun written all over it! i enjoy those so much. in png we had an annual 'united nations day' filled with food, music and a huge concert done by students. the diversity is amazing, you lucky ones you are, have a great time!

^ That sounds similar to this event. Aren't they the best? It's so wonderful to see such a diverse crowd all together, having fun. And hey, I'm all for anything that promotes acceptance and cultural appreciation! But what these cultural fairs really do exemplify is the fact that we are all so similar in more ways than we are different...:nice: Love.

And....forgive my ignorance :P, but what's png? (obviously not the .png file-type extension :laugh4:)

lol sorry, i always use the acronym because i'm use to it. it's papua new guinea, i lived there for 18 years. if you google about you'll see how different it is from australia, or western countries in general. if you want further insight i can post some pics of the concerts i've been in, but that's only if lol.

i miss it so much because here they don't really do that kind of stuff.

Ohhh, I didn't know you grew up there! Tell us more about it. And yeah yeah! Post the photos ("of the concerts you've been in"....? Do you perform?).

yeah post away kathy, i'd love to see some pictures of life in PNG, i know people that have been there and it mindblowing apparently...

hehe well in png i went to an international school, so there were a lot of different cultures. i know a lot of dances from quite a few countries, most from png as you'd expect lol. i can't post them now since i'm about to leave for the city but i will next weekend :nice:

this was taken a few years ago, back in yr11, a couple of my friends and i [far right] during lunch. just a little peak at how diverse everyone was there. aw miss those times! it was great but it's also a little unsafe for expatriates to be walking on the streets.

First photo I've seen of you methinks! Always nice to put a face to a name. And aw, so cute, you are!! :nice: :nice: (err, hello Yoda?). Annnyway! What a great environment to be educated in - exposed to so many different backgrounds. And hey, those crisp, white shirts are quite smart looking...

What is the most widely spoken language in png? ('sides English) I'm guessing there are hundreds of indigenous languages. Hold on, wikipedia here I come.....*whoosh*

Goodness, must have been so difficult to move away from there after 18 years. :stunned: At least it's close enough to Australia for visits, yeah?

Edit: Later Kath, my frenger. I'm off for the night too. Can't wait to work on the comic! Woo.

you must've missed my garbage bag and oompa loompa pics lol.

there are over 700 languages in png, they also speak english, but the most popular is pidgin, which is easily distinguishable due to its inclusion of english such as "haus bilong yu"<-->"your house" [when you hear it of course lol]

i miss png a lot, but mainly because of the people and the memories i have, nearly all of which, took place there. leaving wasn't as hard as you'd think since after graduating, we all left for uni around the world, so the reason for staying there wasn't as strong. i still keep in touch with a lot of people, so that's the most important thing. comparing the aus living to that of png is hard to do, i can't chose which is better, but anyway, uni is a new chapter and so is moving country :D

i'm off for the fortnight, hope everyone has a fantastic week

hi josh! how are you?.....thought id come and say hi :)
