I saw someone said about the Ford's TCDI engine. Basically if you peel away the TCDI logos on the block you will find a PSA HDI engine.

Yeah, that's right! PSA and Ford collaborate to make High Pressure diesel.

Ford has its own TDCI: those from the first generation of Focus (1.8 TDDI 90hp ; 1.8 TDCI 100hp ; 1.8TDCI 115hp), those from the Mondeo 2001 (2.0 DI 90hp -not available anymore-; 2.0TDCI 115hp; 2.0TDCI 130hp; 2.2TDCI 155hp).

Since the first generation of Focus, the reputation of Ford, as a Diesel engine builder, improved a lot.

The rivals' diesel engines weren't as high-performance as Ford's ones.

Now, that's right, the diesel engines of the Fiesta (1.4TDCI 68hp & 1.6TDCI 90hp), of the Focus (1.6TDCI 90hp; 1.6TDCI 110hp & 2.0TDCI 138hp) are from the collaboration between PSA and Ford.

Nonetheless, Ford keeps putting its own diesel engines in the last Focus (1.8TDCI 115hp), in the C-MAX (same), in the S-MAX and Galaxy (1.8TDCI 125hp)

Very nice, especially with this blue:nice:

Do you know which engine it is?:D

I tried twice an automatic gearbox...

The first I tried was a VW Passat V6 4 motion Tiptronic '98.

Honestly, an automatic gearbox is sth really restful, especially when you drive a lot in cities, although it doesn't save energy at all...cos of the way it works...

The second car I tried was the Toyota Prius...

In fact, it doesn't have a gearbox. It's like a moped. You accelerate and the speed increases, without doing anything.

Driving a Prius itself is sth really different. I enjoyed it, really. It's new. completely different from what I drove before.

Shame the Toyota Prius is rubbish though.

Rubbish?

Well, I don't think so.

At least I didn't have this feeling.

Of course, this car isn't built to drive fast... or it may not have the "personnality" of a European car (I mean, the style and the engine).

But the technology used in this car is really something new. The gearbox works by-wire. There's no mechanical link between the gear lever and the gearbox itself.

The cooperation between the electric motor and the engine is really well made. All is done to work as much as it can with the electric motor.

What's really praisable in this car is the exceptionnal reliability, although the car is full of electronics, and the fact that Toyota was one of the first car builders to think of this kind of cars (1997 for the first generation of Prius).

Then Honda (Insight, 1999; Civic IMA, although it's not a real hybrid), Ford (Escape, only in the US) did the same.

I think it was a real innovation and the other brands should do it too. Here in Europe, before 2012, the average of CO² emissions should not be over 120g/kilometer. Otherwise they'll be fined.

I think hybrid cars are one of the solutions that the brands have to consider to succeed in this tough challenge.

Very nice, especially with this blue:nice:

Yep, its the 1.6L diesel engine, 16 valve. Its such a joy to drive. I love Mazda!

My next car hopefully (well not that particular car, just one which looks like it)

I can't drive yet, but I know what car I'm going to get when I can.

I'm going to get an old limo and drive it around. xD

So Dave what car do you have now?

And you, Rick, what do you drive?

Are you still looking for your Skyline R32 GTR?

Or did you find sth else in the meantime?

I actually bought a real cheap car of my brother, whose a mechanic..gets me around okay...and it's cheap on the gas.

Note to self, don't place car in 2nd gear when slowing down from 50 mph when you meant to put it in 4th :embarassed:

Oh dear...:o^^^^

any damage?

I dont have any car..

Or a driverlicence, but i will get one this year

I wish you the best for it!

In general, is it hard in your country to get your driving licence when you try it first?

In the U.K. it depends where you take your test.

Some places are easier to past than others.
