I don't really care about the Grammys anymore, it's lately only Hip Hop and R&B stars who win anyway.. But it's still supposed to be something "big", so why not..

Thanks :)

I'm not much into the Grammys anymore either, but if Coldplay are up for one, I'll tune in. I hope they're performing again, but I won't hold my breath! Thanks for the info, Nik!:D

the Grammys don't honour the most talented artists. only the ones with a lot of airplay... and of course only the ones who are either American, Australian, Irish or British

Ooh I didn't think they still qualified for a Grammy. Congrats to the boys for the nom!

Excellent, though I'm really not sure that those are the five best Rock Performances By A Duo Or Group With Vocal of 2006; especially since only four of them are actually by rock artists *cough* The Fray *cough*

Coldplay better win. When are the Grammy's again?

Hey, a nomination is a really big honor!!! The fact that they were considered is a big deal.

They won't win, though. I have a feeling RHCP will have a clean sweep this year. It's just a hunch.

Dave

Grammys don't mean anything anymore...Lately they haven't honored the right people...but I'll tune in to see if Coldplay can get the award anyway

Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Keane Up For Grammy Awards

The nominations for the 49th Grammy awards have been announced, with Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Keane all up for awards.

Mary J. Blige and Red Hot Chili Peppers top the nominations list with eight and six nominations respectively, whilst James Blunt received five nominations.

Arctic Monkeys received a nomination for their album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' in the Best Alternative Music Album category, which also saw Yeah Yeah Yeahs being nominated for 'Show Your Bones' and Thom Yorke for 'The Eraser'.

Coldplay and Keane battle it out in the Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group for their hits 'Talk' and 'Is It Any Wonder?'.

The Killers are nominated for Best Rock Song for 'When You Were Young', with Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars' in the same category.

U2 get two nominations for their collaborations with Mary J. Blige and Green Day.

The winners will be announced at the Staples Center in LA on 13th December.

if The Fray wins... somebody is really going to get smacked...okay, well, at least a really really mean letter...

there was a time i enjoyed the grammys, there was also a time i liked mtv, but they just don't mean anything anymore, imo of course.

either way, great news for cp. i'd love them to win but it's more likely to go to rhcp.

I kind of like the grammys- but I only watch if the people I like are nominated/performing.

I hope Coldplay wins!!! It'll make up for last year. And I think it comes on in February...

I don't put much stock in the Grammy's, it seems like a popularity contest between whoever MTV's crowd is loving at the moment, like the year that Justin Timberlake and Beyonce won tons, whileI firmly believe Justin has little to no talent. But congrats to Coldplay.

From the beginning onwards coldplay used to be present at grammy shows. But really such a great band and music it is....

so Coldplay will attend next year's Grammy? or performance again?

Grammy Nomination For 'Talk' (Thin White Duke Mix)

Madonna, Goldfrapp, Pet Shop Boys and the Buick Project will be preparing speeches for the Grammy Awards early next year.

The Grammys have three categories related to dance music. Best Dance Recording was first awarded in 1998, though early winners seemed a bit wobbly with Cher (‘Believe’) and the Baha Men (‘Who Let the Dogs Out?’) marching up to the stage to collect their trophies. It wasn’t until 2003 when a separate dance category was created that the Grammy’s seemed more comfortable with the genre: in recent years Britney Spears (‘Toxic’) and The Chemical Brothers (‘Galvanize’) have gone home with the gramophone. This year's nominees are also pretty worthy: Depeche Mode, Justin Timberlake & Timbaland and Madonna are all in contention.

The Best Remix category has been around since 2002, with previous winners including Jacques Lu Cont (for No Doubt’s ‘In My Life’) and Roger Sanchez (for No Doubt’s ‘Hella Good’). No sign of No Doubt this year, though, with Nic Fanciulli in to win under his Buick Project guise, while Lu Cont tries for another gold gramophone to add to his stash with a remix of Coldplay.

The Best Electronic/Dance Album category is only a couple of years old, with previous winners being The Chemical Brothers for 'Push The Button' and Basement Jaxx for 'Kish Kash'. Among the contenders this year, perhaps the smart money is on Madonna’s ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ to take the trophy – it narrowly missed the cutoff date last year, causing a major label kerfuffle, and it’s marriage of dance cred and pop appeal looks like a likely Grammy contender.

Best Dance Recording

Depeche Mode – Suffer Well

Goldfrapp – Ooh La La

Madonna – Get Together

Pet Shop Boys – I’m With Stupid

Justin Timberlake & Timbaland – Sexy Back

Best Remix

Mary J. Blige – Be Without You (Moto Blanco Vocal Mix)

Tiefschwarz & Tracey Thorn – Damage (Buick Project Remix)

Beyoncé – Deja Vu (Freemasons Club Mix - No Rap)

Coldplay – Talk (Thin White Duke Mix)

Bob Sinclar – World Hold On (E-Smoove Remix)

Best Electronic/Dance Album

Goldfrapp – Supernature

Madonna – Confessions on a Dance Floor

Oakenfold – A Lively Mind

Pet Shop Boys – Fundamental

Zero 7 – The Garden

The Grammy Awards will be held on February 11, 2007 at the Staples Center, Los Angeles.
