Do you send Christmas cards?

Featured Replies

I just bought some Christmas cards yesterday - it took me HOURS, because I want each to be perfect for the individual I'm sending it to :P

I send it to my friends who live abroad, and to an English family I once lived with during my holidays. So.. I think it's 4 or 5 in total.

Yup. I have a huge stack to take to the post box. Its costing me a fortune in postage as I'm sending more international ones this year. The postage itself has come to nearly £20. I have actually decided that stamps are a rip off. If I want to send a postcard to america it costs 50p. If I want to send a card/letter which weighs practically the same, it needs a £1.19 stamp.

I don't personally send any christmas cards anymore, although my name goes onto cards which my mum/dad sends out from the family.

True, true!

The problem is, I don't only send cards abroad, but also parcels - this year I'll spend up to € 30 just for the postage itself, it's insane!

Yes out of decency but I actually hate them! lol

Well, our family always sends christmas cards to our relatives.

I think my mum is gonna put a christmas hat to my puppy and put the pic of it to the card..

poor doggy :\

I don't send cards to my friends..

i've no need to do that really, because i see them around the time anyways...

Here in Brazil no one really sends them...

I remember I thought it was so weird when I got a bunch of them when I was living in Canada. All my friends gave me one.

I still have them... :nice:

I'm gonna send one to an old lady in ireland this year - she was my host mother while I was in dublin for two weeks in 2004 :nice: plus, I visited her again in 2005 and I think she'll be very happy to receive a card ^^

aww that's sweet

That's what I mean! Most people seem to be doing it out of obligation rather than because they really want to.

My dad sent my teachers Christmas cards last year. :dozey:

They probably said something like: "Yeah, thanks for putting up with Jenika. Merry Christmas!"

in high school, i used to write christmas cards to all my close friends and attach candy canes to them. the cards were personalized messages too.. i thought it was nice. i like receiving cards. i like spreading christmas cheer. i like gettin candy canes and eating 6 in one day and being on a sugar high all day at school lol

i don't do it anymore. i keep meaning to... but it's way too much work i just IM everyone hehe.

as for birthdays and other things.,. i usually call/text the person at 12am of their birthday to wish them a happy birthday.

 I don't know- I did make Honor Roll though! -LOL just kidding.

I wish my dad wouldn't do those kind of things though. He donated money to my school a few months ago- I can get good grades on my own- God.

Shows you how smart he thinks I am...

That's what I mean - cards have become pretty much obsolete!!

should we just boycott the sending of christmas cards? I don't think people would be bothered if I didn't give them a card. lol

I think you could be right - and think of all the trees you'd be saving!!:D

exactly......

but I bought some the other day.....:laugh3:

Christmas cards are so stupid

Presents are better... to heck with all the "it's the thought that counts"

Unless you don't get a present....

I always give cards to my friends if I see them before Xmas, and if i give them a present then i give them a card as well. Mum writes the cards for family, friends and neighbours but signs them from the family.

and i always give birthday cards to my friends as well as a present AND a text message to say happy bday.

plus i always write messages in the cards i give ppl. Ive taken to buying blank birthday cards to give me more writing room.

i dno... i like cards! its a sweet idea i think. but at the same time im not insulted if i dont get one from ppl.
