Do they know it's Christmas?

What about the 1989 version?

Or the version which radio 1 is rumoured to be doing next week?

Both the 1989 and 2004 versions were sh*t. Period.;)

I like the old version better.....it just sounded better,in terms of the singing etc.

I prefer the last one, beacause of Robbie, Chris, Dido and Bono :)

Unfortunately Dido sounded poor on it, and it was ruined by the likes of Justin Squawkins (where is he now?) and Dizzee Rascal's awful rap.

I know it's a little off-topic but...

I appreciate the sentiment, and the motives behind the song, and Bob Geldof is a hero of mine, but the lyrics drive me crazy!!

1. "And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas"...Of course not. even if they end world hunger, there won't be snow in Africa. IT'S AFRICA!

1. "Tonight thank God it's them instead of you". I'm not going to thank God it's them. How selfish can you get? I'd thank God if it was nobody suffering.

I still love the song and all the good it accomplished. It's just the lyricist in me goes crazy. No biggy!:D

I've got a solution. How about changing it to:

"Tonight please think of them, instead of you........................"

I assumed this line was sarcastic, I mean it's a very Bob Dylan-esque thing to say.

Did he even write the song or was that Midge Ure?

Anyway, the original version is way better, there was no need to re-record it with anyone new.

I am in total agreement.;)

"Tonight thank God it's them instead of you".

Does this line really appear in this song?

Oh gosh.....what a poor line for a song that is meant to be for the poorest......
