cd cases

Featured Replies

do you prefer the jewel cases or digipacks?

i think digipacks are just the classiest shit on the block. they're kind of reminiscent of vinyl sleeves and the album art just looks so much more interesting. love love love.

I don't really care for cases too much, because they take up too much storage space.

I prefer to use CD wallets and albums.

I prefer Digipacks......looks much better than the normal jewel case.

digipacks are snazzilicious.

I hate plastic ones that are nearly always smashed in the middle when you get em' delivered...so yeah the cardboard kinda ones/digipacks are better... :nice:

Yeah I also break my jewel cases. Digipacks are 100000 times better.

I prefer jewel cases...

...only because i have ran out of space on my shelfs for Digi-Packs and other cases which are bigger than the normal cases.

Also some digi-packs have a cheap feel to them.

The hinges on jewel cases will break off if (or more accuratly when) you drop them. Drives me freaking crazy.

Digipacks on the other hand get messed up if you run out to the car with them in the rain because they aren't plastic. As my worse for the wear copy of the Arcade Fire's album shows, they get tattered from repeated use. And finally, the no size/method restrictions are annoying because they often don't fit on cd racks, and you can't easily access the cd in a hurray. (Not that my one handed open the case and put a cd in while driving method is all that wise, mind you, but I do like to have the option.) Oh yeah, and the slip case on one of my cds scratched the cd quite badly, so I don't use it anymore at all.

Imho, the best ones are the laminated digipacks that have the plastic cd tray inside. No raindrop worries, no broken hinges, and easy access.

cracked CD cases in the mail are the bane of my existence.

I much prefer jewel cases (in the case of albums anyway). For one they are all of uniform size. Secondly the cardboard ones also seem cheap to me. I don't tend to mail order many CDs so the breaking is a non issue for me. I have specifically waited until an album has been available in a jewel case before i bought it. It's a whole different story for singles though....

Plastic Jewel Cases are cheap to buy in bulk. Just keep them for when one of your cases break.

I prefer digi-packs. Jewel cases break too easily and i think digi-packs just look better anyway :)

digipacks are way better imo...they look better and dont break as easy

I slightly prefer digipaks because of the easy-broken jewel case problem, and also because on the digipak, the picture goes on continuous from the front side to the back side (I don't think everyone understands...) The problem is that cardboard can be bended easily, and I think gets actually bended with time and use...
