So, is it true that girls are looking for men who are like their father?

Featured Replies

Random thought that came to my mind randomly tonight before I went to bed and after we picked up my drunk Dad from a celebration.....hahah

First I thought about our neighbour who was with him and his behaviour when he is drunk and then I thought about my Dad and that he is quite cute when he is drunk....

and then this thought came to my mind " Are girls looking for a man who is like their father?"...

I think I've heard that somewhere but I'm not sure anymore

If so then I won't be too unhappy I think....:P

Yes that's it

Well.

Scientists say that women aren't looking for men that are close to their father, they have the common points with her dad. It's not that she does it on purpose, she doesn't even know that she's looking for it.

Okey do I make sense here?

I thought about this, I don't know. My father did look kind of like my type when he was young. And if it really is true than I'm looking for someone with a low self esteem who is shy and a perfectionist. Shit.

i dont think that i'm looking for a man who's like my father but i did see someone does, well, not in realistic but on TV

I get you... So we are unintentionally attracted to guys that have some similar characteristics and qualities as our dads?

^ According to scientists, yes.

(I find it rather bullocks but oh well)

hehe I don't think it's too far fetched.......I mean when I think about the character of my Dad and my own character....they are quite close....so I wouldn't be sad if I found a man who is like me or him.....

It's Freudian Edip's complex, isn't it? Freud said that every boy has a subconscious desire to make sex with his own mother, the same goes for girls and their fathers.

I, personally, don't like Freud and rarely share his point.

Oh really....is it even Freud? Damn we talked a lot about him in german classes.....a shame that I forgot about that....

That's quite gross...

I don't think there is anything much wrong with my dad - he's a fairly decent guy - but I'm not looking for someone like him. I'd be looking for a decent person, but that's just a normal thing to want, isn't it? I'd be a little bit weirded out if my future husband was like my dad...

I think most of what Freud said is pretty um, right. I mean sometimes when I hear people go 'oh freud said this and this' I think 'well, its pretty obvious', on the other hand I'm not sure if really EVERYTHING is always about sex in the end...

You are not a girl Marek so no need to worry......even if you were you wanted to have sex with Chris anyways:nice:

when i was young, i was thinking about marrying my dad which is very weird now when i think back...

that's what i was just about to say:)

Hehehe weird theory....luckily it doesn't apply to me! :laugh3:

Well I have heard that girls would marry, or at least date guys like their father OR guys the complete opposite of their father.

I don't know...I mean...my dad is a good dad and all....but I don't wanna marry a guy with the exact personality of my dad. My dad's too...........conservative. And we always fight because we are both opinionated people, and we always have different views on things. And I don't usually like his views.

Well, I've never heard about that... Freud has always been wierd for me... :surprised: And I guess I'd never want to marry someone as my dad... :P I mean, we share pretty much the same tastes for things and we like common stuff but some characteristics of him...oh gosh! He's so pessimist most of the times! I wouldn't like to live with a man that would always put me down in some sort of way....

I didn't thought I was until my father's mother looked at my love interest picture and went like "Is that your father?"

I freaked out!!!!!

But my father has soooo many characteristics that I do NOT look in a man. But I have to say, my father is super cool!

But, hummm, I hope not.

good thread.

definitely not in my case, i'm looking for everything in a man that my father isnt.
