Britney Spears

Featured Replies

That's this thing called an "image". Don't assume to know Britney beacuse you saw pictures of her and an exagerated story in a tabloid. Celebrities do this kind of stuff all the time to get publicity, after all sex sells. Madonna's been doing it ever since the beginning, and yet oddly I don't see anybody bitching about her.

And when it comes to a celebrity's personal life, it's none of our damn business, just like ours is none of their damn business. I think it's disgusting how people freely gossip about Britney and will even try to justify it, while if people were to gossip about us, we would feel betrayed.

None of us have "courted" publicity in order to become famous and earn millions. If we did, then the same would apply.

Stars can't decide which publicity they want. It's the luck of the draw.

Britney Spears loses £5.25million 'sex video' court battle

Pop diva Britney Spears has lost a £5.25 million court battle over allegations made about an explicit sexy video she was supposed to have filmed with her husband.

A judge ruled that Spears could not complain about a published story about the alleged raunchy tape because she had exploited her sexuality to earn huge amounts of money.

The judge has dismissed a libel suit she brought against an American magazine the 24-year-old singer accused of lying.

Spears denied making the tape and accused Us Weekly magazine of fabricating a story about a sexually explicit video the star had allegedly made with husband Kevin Federline.

But a Los Angeles judge has now thrown the star's lawsuit out of court.

Superior Court Judge Lisa Hart Cole has found no basis for Spears to prevail on her claim that the magazine article about her was defamatory.

The suit, filed last year by Spears and former dancer Federline, sought £5.25 million British pounds/7.85 million euro (US$10 million) in damages against the publication over the article, which appeared in the magazine's "HOTstuff" column in October 2005, about a month after Spears gave birth to her first child.

Us Weekly said it stood by its account, which ran with the headline: "Brit & Kev: Secret Sex Tape? New parents have a new worry: racy footage from 2004."

The celebrity couple had told their lawyers that "a member of their entourage had threatened to release raunchy footage" of them and that Spears feared that "an X-rated tape starring the two may go public," according to the article.

The magazine also reported that Spears and Federline gave a copy of the tape to lawyers and watched it with them.

Spears' lawsuit said that the article was libellous since "it maliciously and recklessly" portrayed the singer as acting "goofy" while watching the video with her lawyers, who in turn either laughed at, or were horrified by, the duo's onscreen antics.

The lawsuit went on to claim that because the sex tape in question didn't even exist in the first place, the item was "a despicable work of fiction comprised of blatant lies from beginning to end."

But the judge disagreed. Judge Hart Cole wrote: "It is clear that plaintiff did not bring this lawsuit because she was falsely accused of acting goofy.

"The issue is whether it is defamatory to state that a husband and wife taped themselves engaging in consensual sex."

The judge went on to conclude that Spears has "put her modern sexuality squarely, and profitably, before the public eye" in a way that would make it unlikely for the magazine article to be found defamatory.

The judge cited Spears' 2005 television reality show "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic," which chronicled her courtship and marriage to Federline based largely on home videos shot by the pop star.

The judge noted that the series included scenes of Spears filming Federline naked in a shower, Spears interviewing Federline during a night-time bus ride while she was naked, and "otherwise catching plaintiff talking uninhibitedly about her sex life."

Both Spears' publicist and her lawyer, Gary Stiffelman, declined comment on the judge's ruling. Spears, who has sold more than 76 million records since bursting on the scene in 1998 with "Baby One More Time, is expected to put the focus back on her music next year.

Her fifth studio album, "Fear Within," is due out in mid-2007.

The mother of two is supposedly working with a trainer to get back into shape.

Britney Spears has filed for divorce, it emerged last night. The 24-year-old singer has lodged legal papers in Los Angeles citing 'irreconcilable differences' with Kevin Federline, according to U.S. reports.

She has asked for custody of the couple's two children, Sean Preston, one, and twomonthold Jayden James, with Federline getting reasonable visitation rights.

In legal papers, Miss Spears gave the separation date as Monday, according to U.S. website TMZ.com.

That night she went on the Late Show with David Letterman showing off a new slim look and hairstyle - but made no mention of a possible split.

Federline spent the weekend in New York promoting his debut album and then headed to Toronto to continue the promotional tour.

Spears wed Federline, 28, her former backing dancer, in LA in September 2004. Miss Spears is said to have hired celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has previously represented Angelina Jolie and Nick Lachey, Jessica Simpson's ex-husband.

It is thought Miss Spears signed a prenuptial agreement before she married Federline. She previously married childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in January 2004 - but the marriage was annulled after two days.

Federline was previously married to Shar Jackson, with whom he has two children. Miss Spears is said to be waiving her right to spousal support.

She is also asking the judge to make each party pay its own legal fees. Miss Spears's spokesman did not return calls last night.

I'm surprised it even lasted this long. Why do these people even bother getting married?

She does not belong in any section as it is a negative thing for the band to have ppl talk about that cow on a messageboard devoted to Coldplay.

I'm not a fan of either of them, but I liked them as a couple. Oh well, it wasn't a marriage built to last long anyway. :/

It was never gonna last, so there was no point in them wasting everyone's time in the first place!;)

Kevin Federline says he is planning to fight pop star Britney Spears for sole custody of their children.

In court papers filed in Los Angeles, the rapper says he intends to take action to protect and safeguard their two young sons.

Spears made the first move by filing for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason.

She said she wanted physical and legal custody of the couple's year-old son and new baby.

But 24 hours later, Federline has started the legal process to seek sole custody of the two children. He also wants spousal support.

According to the rapper's lawyer, he is prepared to go the distance in order to do what he feels is necessary to protect and safeguard the children - and will not be intimidated or dissuaded from pursuit of those goals.

i don't get why so many people are against her. i really don't care about her personal life despite it being repeatedly splashed on magazing covers etc. she had made a lot of stupid decisions lately but everyone has done stupid things, they just don't have it magnified x times to the point of ridiculous.

but good for her and the divorce. federline was a huge mistake.

So why could everyone see this but her??

You could have bet your house on that marriage not lasting.;)

well of course it was never going to last lol

the old saying love is blind applies here and she couldn't see what we all saw. how many times have we been observers of relationships we knew would never last yet seen the duration go longer than it should've and evetually fail? and it's not restricted to celebrities, but to anyone.

Oh, K-Fed. You partying jackass. Britney may make some mistakes, but she seems like a good-hearted person who loves her kids. You're the one who goes out partying and leaving her to care for the kids.

Again, not a fan, and I kind of liked them as a couple, but at the same time, I despise Kevin Federline. He's so annoying and he seems like a jerk. Although I saw a video the other day of him on MTV just after he found out about the divorce and he looked like crap. I almost felt bad for him.
