The super-producer will help out on their fourth album

Timbaland has revealed that he is to work with Coldplay on their fourth album.

The super-producer revealed that he is coming to the UK in April to meet with the band, whom he is known to be a big fan of.

Speaking about his production method of not having a preconceived idea of what the sound will be, Timbaland told the US edition of GQ: "I try to get into their heads, see what they're thinking about. I just try to figure out how they are feeling. And if they are feeling a certain way, I go by that. It's more about everyday life - then it (should) be about music."

As previously reported the band are also working with Brian Eno on the follow-up to 2005's 'X&Y' at their own purpose-built studio in north London.

rap in Coldplay's music?

I don't really like rap, but when Blondie, one of my favorite bands, started with rap in the song Rapture, it turned out fine.

It could turn out fine with Coldplay...

timbaland is a producer people. he's going to be behind the scenes producing a track(s), there isn't going to be any rapping.

I was gonna say, there's not going to be rap. So, people, calm down!

I like this idea, he and Eno should definitely make this work well.

This could either go very, very right or very, very wrong, but it'll be interesting to see what they come up with together.

And it's not going to be rap... it's probably going to be more along the idea of Danger Mouse producing The Good the Band and the Queen, or generally just both sides trying to do something different.

Unlike the other big names that Timbaland has produced, Coldplay already have their own drummer as well as a pretty firm sense of what they do, so I don't think that we're going to hear as much of the more overwhelming aspects of Timbalands style just out of nessesity.

I'm not really a fan of his music, so I hope he doesn't give too much of his sound to Coldplay lol, I just can't see them doing the dance-R'n'B thing.

As long as it's as far from "R&B" as possible then I don't mind.

The current take on R&B has to be the most dull and uninspiring music genre ever. Mid tempo 'R&B' ballads are enough to make me want to stick a pin in my ear and pop my ear-drums.

"J-Lo" has some pretty dire ones and all because she thinks she's "real".....yeah.....I fucking hate them.

It's not going to be like that of course but still....I hate this R&B type tripe.

Having said that Timberland seems to create some fairly decent stuff and I think he's probably wise or clever enough to be able to work with many styles.

God, who isn't working with that man these days?

Yeah that's what I think, I'm not so sure about him working with coldplay, that's not his style at all, I just hope that he helps them and guide them for the right diirections, I don't wanna listen to him singing with chris like he's doing with nelly furtado or justin timberlake

Dammit! Timbaland is going to put himself in every single song. He's going to be in the background making weird noises like he did in Nelly Furtado and Justins' song!!

whatever the timbaland producer is trying to know about going into the bands minds but i can guess chris will always not leave a piano..

if it was just going to be Timbaland i would be thinking "hm, gosh hope the album doesn't flow toward a pop direction, so but knowing Eno will be there as well is very comforting to know, thank goodness.

should be very interesting though. i have to admit i am definitely excited about album no. 4!

I´m worrying so much because I don´t want a hip hop album. Anyway, they don´t need anyone else to produce their 4th album! :(

When Timbaland produces he ends up with his two cents voice in it with a "yeh" or "uh uh" or "what" So do we really need to see or hear this in Coldplay music... I think not!

I'm interested to hear how it works out. Could either go really well for them or horribly wrong.....

I'd hate it if they had other artists in their album. I wouldn't mind if it was just one song and it was pretty discreet, but it seems everybody is doing collaborations these days so its probably just a matter of time before it happens with Coldplay.:(

I just read he's working with Ashlee Simpson and Madonna. I bet he'd produce a song for a toad.

Coldplay noooo.

I'm not against different types of music, I'm so very ecclectic. But..er...nooooooo! I hate when people jump on the bandwagon and just have to work with the current 'hot' producer. They dont necessarily make good music. A year ago it was Kanye West, before that The Neptunes or Pharell...now Timbaland. They all have a certain sound to their music and IMO aren't diverse enough.

Hopefully his tracks don't make the album.

NO!

This makes me annoyed and concerned. I hope he just sits politely in the corner and doesn't get involved.

coldplay are getting too cool for this world
 It's true.
