Help CCC Find Cures for Diseases - Free!

Featured Replies

Some of us don't have money to donate or time to volunteer. That's why Stanford University has made it easy for everyone to help find cures for diseases simply by installing a small application on their home pc/mac that analyzes protein molecules and then sends back the results to Stanford. It's called Folding@home and more than 50,000 teams (600,000 users) have joined to help.

I would like to officially invite Coldplaying Charity Club to join Isara's Folding@home Team so that we can work together to find cures for diseases. All you need to do is download a small file (it's completely safe) and install it (takes one minute). The application runs in the background, while you're working or sleeping (as long as your computer is on, you're helping).

Download Site: http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html

The first download link (5.03) will work for most PC users.

After/During installation input the following:

Username: Coldplaying (or use your own name if you want individual stats)

Team Number: 53762

The more computers that have the Username: Coldplaying the more good we'll do and the more points CCC will get. Certificates are provided by Stanford for those who join in.

Let me know if you have any questions and I hope you'll join in,

pk

Hi pk! This sounds interesting......the premise is like SETI@Home (I had that running on my comp for years). Basically the computer analyzing workload gets split up among thousands of people, quickening the pace of results, right?

I'll be glad to sign up! I'll check into it tomorrow. Thanks very much for posting!

Thanks a lot PK, it's nice seeing you around these parts! :square:

I just did the download, signed up as a Coldplaying user/team member. Thanks Isara, it's a great way to help a good cause.

Thank you, Collee! :) I just noticed Coldplaying popped up again on our Folding@home Team list and was wondering who joined in.

Thanks again,

Oh wow!! What a brilliant idea!!! I wonder if Coldplay themselves know about this and if they do and they fully endorse this, then have pure hearts of gold!!!!!
