Eurovision Song Contest

Featured Replies

does anyone look forward to it as much as i do?

gotta admit that i just love that show.

i know it's bollocks and they hardly ever have good songs, but all in all it's good fun in my opinion.

it's like... we're one for an evening.

hahaha.

have you already got a favourite (besides the musician representing your country)?

i haven't heard anything from other countries yet, but well...

i know it's very political in the end.

they never give points to "the big four" :dozey:

whatsoever... all the eastern countries share points, but it doesn't matter really.

it's gonna be an awesome evening, i hope ;)

just a theory for my german fellows... we so should've sent Tokio Hotel to represent us. hahaha. naaah, really. they're huge in poland, switzerland, austria, france, russia, ... damnit :(

Mainly due to that cool hat

yes. how can i describe their music  glam rock is the best word maybe. Usually I don't like that kind of music, but they're brilliant. I saw them live couple weeks ago, and it was great gig :) Unfortunately the song they will play in Eurovision isn't the best of them. :\

I heard snippets of every song online a few hours ago - since then I know that this year's song contest is gonna be even trashier than it was before

looks like there are many stupid dance songs again... hrhr :dozey:

... gonna watch it anyway! :cheesy:

hehe ;D

but that doesn't really count for anything - since DJ bobo didn't even make it through the semi-final

well okay, he's not that famous anymore either way ;D

^ yeah, but someone should tell him that the 90's are over since his music hasn't change ever since.

I think Portugal should have gotten through, I don't think Ireland will get anywhere because we're sending Dervis who are an irish traditional band and the rest of europe won't really go for that-anyway all the eastern european countries vote for their neighbours so the rest of us are screwed regardless of our song, thats my interpretation of it anyway!

Hungary has the best song....but it does not fit in that contest...but it's such a great song....12 points from me:D

too bad Belgium did not reach the final....:bigcry:

again Germany has a different style (like last year) but I'm afraid this won't help (again.,.....)

gona stock up on junk food and watch it today!!

can't believe im excited about it again this year!

i hope there is more stuff like Lordi they were a bit of fresh air in the contest last year. also hope like in other years they show bits and pieces of the country i would like to visit finland.

Bulgaria and Cyprus have very good songs. Germany`s song is nothing special in my opinion. Let us see what happens...

To be honest....I think Bulgaria's song is the same like Ruslana....

wow....this year I'm excited about it although I know how it will end again...like everytime...our country pays a lot....after all it reaches a bad result...and oh well my opionion about this nowadays is not that nice...but I don't want to say too much people could understand it wrongly...;)

Awww poor Switzerland, poor DJ Bobo! I used to like him when I was young if I'm honest haha! We all have skeletons in the closet, haven't we?

Well, I like Germany's song, because it's totally different to the typical Eurovision trash. But Roger Cicero has three disadvantages...

1.) His song is in German (although one part will be in English)

2.) Everyone hates Germany

3.) He's not from East-Europe

That's why he doesn't have a chance to win this competition!

I was shocked when I saw Great Britain's participants! It's totally shit! This country probably owns the best bands in the whole world, but a childish band called Scoosh will finally take part in the show. It describes what a bad reputation this competition actually has...

hehehe good reasons Lars....although the first one shouldn't be a reason because this year many songs are in their mother tongue...;)

haven't heard the British song yet....I read in the newspaper this morning that the British and Australian (!) people say Germany will win....but I doubt that...

exactly

plus, I don't even think we'll make it into the... well, let's say top 15 tonight, hehe. but I usually don't like our songs anyway - although it's a better one this year...

oh btw....I have a theory to reason 2 (I told my Dad some days ago):

the image of Germany has changed since last year because of the World Cup...and as a " thank you" for this nice World cup host people will call for Germany...:laugh4:

j/k

wow eurovision is soo ridiculous...i like to watch it and to laugh at the participants!:sneaky:

so you noticed that the whole Balkan peninsula went to Eurovision this year?what a coincidence...

right now i'm watching the final run-through of the 28 performances during the 15 min countdown. i always catch eurovision every year without fail lol whether i want to or not. i turn on the tv and boom, there is it. it's true, it's always fun to watch, always entertaining, not to be taken seriously at all, atleast not by me lol some of the acts this year are just crazy, most sound the same and others left me with a :uhoh: look

edit: oh i got to say, just watching to hosts is cracking me up. the commentators are saying the most ridiculous things :laugh3:

2.) Everyone hates Germany

3.) He's not from East-Europe

Come on... not everyone hates Germany (why do you think so?) and the east european trends appear new to the west europeans which is the reason that they seem more interesting (and they probably are). Keep in mind that Eastern Europe has less ppl than Western Europe.

To be honest....I think Bulgaria's song is the same like Ruslana....

Sorry but I have to tell you that you couldn`t be more wrong. You`re not used to this kind of music that`s why it all appears the same to you, happens every time with everyone ;)

hehehe maybe I'm not used to this music....but for me it sounds soooo similar to the other typical eurovision songs...maybe it's just a matter of taste or opinion...but for me it sounds the same...;)

sometimes (as a german) you get the impression/we think that we are still hated all over the world....which is not true of course....esp. not after the World Cup....Eastern Europe has less people that's true...and this is why I don't really get that the western countries don't do the same as the eastern...to give points to each other...maybe the reason is that the eastern countries have been one in the past...and the western haven't....it just annoys me that it rather seems to be a political than a musical decision.....:\

Well let`s not get political but the statement that East Europe is united or the countries "have been one in the past" is not true. Most of the countries were under Socialst influence but the differencies are vast! Only on the Balkans there were 5 different wars from 1900-1945.... though most of the ppl are slavic they don`t love eachother that much.

I didn't want to say they were united or something...united sounds so uhm "positive"....

anyways.....we'll see what happens this year....maybe we get more satisfied...
