June 27, 200718 yr In the original equipment list that Debs provided on Coldplay.com, Will uses the Zildjian 14" A Custom Hi-Hats, but in photos I've seen he has the K Custom instead, did he just recently switch for the X&Y sessions does anyone know, and is there much difference in sound? I'm shopping around for good quality hats and was wondering what the difference is.
June 27, 200718 yr Well, i do not know if he switched for X&Y, but maybe it is not his own kit? Also there is'nt much different sound i guess. I have Zildjian Z hats and cymbals and sounds not much different. Ofcourse there is a little bit different in quality!
June 27, 200718 yr Yeah I think he switched. I <3 K customs, but zildjian cymbals are so unreasonably expensive. I'm more of a sabian person. My B8 crash sound better than my medium 16" crash. Though, I'm not very happy with my B8's at all. Don't have the money for anything good. Bleh. I'd get cymbals used btw. Saves a bit of cash. :)
June 27, 200718 yr Are the Z hats good quality then I take it? The hats are in a package with Ride&hats&crash! or Hats&ride/crash. The package wih lowest price is Ride&hats&crash for +/- 150 euro's in The Netherlands. Zildjian planet z is it called.
June 27, 200718 yr Author Thanks for your advice people. I found some used Zildjian A Customs on ebay for £160, I'm tempted by those. I'm also looking at the Sabian HHX Groove hats too, the ones used by Richard Hughes from Keane. I know I don't the exact same ones but I'm a geek lol.
June 27, 200718 yr ew. Not planet Zs! I thought you were talking about Z customs. Planet Z's sound kinda bleh compared to A or K's. HHX's are really top of the line. :freak: Unless you're gonna do some major recording work, I'd go with the slightly cheaper AAX's. They sound great but they're not the hand hammered line. And shop on the American ebay, everything should be slightly cheaper too... :laugh3: And, an A custom pack, hats, or a single cymbal? O.o
June 27, 200718 yr Oh... isn't that kinda pricey? That's a little more than the retail price in the US... You could buy from a US stocker and get it for about £130 new. :) Take advantage of our crappy economy! :laugh3: Here are some mastersounds for only around £130. http://www.westcoastdrums.com/zicumahi12.html
June 27, 200718 yr Author Yeah I looked around the US and the prices are really good, it's just that the shipping bumps the price up.
June 27, 200718 yr Something you might want to check out is Sabian's AAX X-Celerator Hi Hats. I was always a Zildjian person, but when I went to my local Guitar Center and placed some A Custom Mastersound hats next to these, the Sabian's completely blew them away. Not the cheapest, but completely worth it. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Sabian-AAX-XCelerator-HiHats?sku=446747

I used to be a Zildjian person but after getting a really crappy crash cymbal that sounded worse than my friggin' Sabian B8's, I started to think Sabian is better. :laugh3: ah yeah, shipping. http://www.samash.com was offering shipping for items over $99, but I'm not sure if that applies to international shipping...
October 14, 200916 yr i use sabien B8's they feel a little heavy but they give good sound and are cheap compred to zildjin
October 14, 200916 yr how do i find out what cymbals i have? i got my dad's old drum set... 3 crashes, 1 ride, 1 splash and a set of hihat all that is from zildjian of course they are used, and if there ever was a black printing, it's gone... only a stamp ( = hit into the metal) saying zildjian - genuine turkish cymbals... oh, except for the splash, it's got a huge "K" on it
