Ryan’s Weekly Rant

This is where I am going to post a rant I have for that week. I am sorry, but I just love to complain. Please post your thoughts or comments.

This week’s rant is about Music Videos. Do artist like Fergie, Rihanna, Akon, and Gwen Stefani pay MTV and VH1 to play there music videos or something?? I mean I saw Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry” on VH1 two times in the same hour. Other than that they and MTV play that song and others every hour. I saw Rihanna’s Umbrella song on VH1’s countdown at 15 one week and some song never 2 or 3, but still they play Rihanna more than the ones in the top 5. What else makes me made about this is that when Coldplay came out with Speed of Sound, Fix You, and Talk VH1 only played it about once every 5 hours, but still manage to get The Black Eye Pea’s song out there every hour???? What the hell is with that? MTV is worse than that. I have never seen a Coldplay music video on there regular channel. Coldplay or another band can be higher in sales and on the charts, but still you have those 5 or 6 music videos that are played more.

Well that is my 2 cents on the subject.

I know what you're talking about!

I was watching one of the music video blocks early in the morning on VH1, and one of Fergie's songs was on there three times. In an hour.

I do think that eventually people will get fed up with being almost force-fed crappy music. Not that it's really force-feeding, but if you want to listen to music these days, you can't really turn to the radio or the television. At least that's what I'm seeing here.

Also:

Who wants to listen to some chick sing about umbrellas? >=(

^ Thank you. I just watch to see one music video and than I turn it off, but three times that's a new record.

P.S. I hate that umbrella so much:veryangry2:

well, i know what you mean, but i'm certainly not annoyed by it.

it's mainstream music. i don't expect the music channels to play the bands i like, which makes me even happier when the occansionally play good videos.

i sometimes do enjoy watching "Big Girls Don't Cry" for that hot Milo Ventimiglia guy. we should always look for the benefits.

I'm over vh1 and MTV's music video rotations. I watch The Tube if I ever want any good music videos.

Oh this should be buckets of fun!

Yeah, but after awhile it gets real old.

If I want to watch a music video I go to youtube, can't be fucked dealing with all those music video channels anymore.

I do like reading a rant :)

I agree. Im tired of seeing a vid on Vh1 and flipping over to MTV just to see the same vid!! STOP. But I have to disagree with the Speed of Sound thing. MTV played the shit out of that. I remember one night it came on every hour on the hour. Not that I minded. :D Well, it got old after a while. I hate when a good song gets really popular. Then they overdo it.

At least your MTV and VH1 play music videos, the ones in the UK play rubbish programs.

i used to be hooked on a music tv channel here, called flymusic... they used to show vids that i liked (very few of coldplay...), but now they only show vids of rap, hip-hop, reggaeton (is not reggae believe me), and dark music.. i don't like it anymore... so to listen music i go to YT.

As I've said on countless previous occasions - videos are pointless, and any song which requires a video in order to sell must be a pile of shite. I sometimes watch bands and singers performing on TV, but that's about it. Music channels are in the main a waste of space and pander to a "fast food" music crowd. Everyone should stop watching them IMO.;)

They're yet another form of "brainwashing".

You have to stay up until abotu 2 in the morning to see them.

It's just not worth it.

All they show on MTV is The Hills, and all that's ever on VH1 is Flavor of Love. >=(

Do not mention The Hills...aka the spawn of hell formulated for teenage girls... :dead:

Never heard of them.:smug:

oh gosh, "Flavour Of Love"... :laugh3:

but i've gotta admit that i enjoy watching "The Hills" from time to time. lol.

i guess i'm a bit too girly for serious programmes.

I used to like VH2 before they ninja'd it.

I don't think I've been on a music channel since, except to watch Cribs.

When I was in Russia this summer there's this one channel on TV that plays music videos all day and you can text them and ask for a video, and I asked for coldplay every single night until I found out that the only CP video they had was The hardest part. I was waiting for a CP vid all night and then THP came on and I was so pissed off I turned off the TV and went to sleep!! I must destroy that video!!!

Ps. Go Ryan!!!

Holy shit it's Anna! :stunned:

'Flavor of Love' is so entertaining. Not in 'the greatest show' kinda way, but the shit the girls say and do is so ridiculous and hilarious that's it's fun to watch. :P

You can always count on a laugh when watching Flavor of Love...when you're laughing at other people.

My grandparents get this really cool channel called IMF. They pretty much show music videos all day. Mostly good ones, too.

Hmmm.... i see that i am well protected from shite like that ... you see, no MTV or Viva or anything else does the trick ;) otherwise... i hate it when they play the same songs too often each day. Like Robbie's Madonna (or whatever its name is) and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. not that those songs are bad (they are not!) but they still play it too often for my taste. hm.

but i guess that i have to google that "Flavour of Love" and "the hills" :D :D
