AROBTTH no. 89 of the best 200 albums of all times

Featured Replies

For the german national holiday the radio station WDR 2 wanted listeners to vote for the 200 best albums of all times. On this 3rd of October WDR 2 announced the list and played one song of each album. Coldplay´s A Rush Of Blood To The Head made it up to no. 89! The radio station chose to play "Clocks". The whole list and more information in german here:

what about parachutes.. personally I think it's their best album

:uhoh: a Pink album is number 79 :uhoh:

nah, a rush of blood is better

yeah AROBTTH is amazing, it should've been closer to no 1 imo. I still listen to it everyday. I saw an MTV programme the other day which showed the UK's greatest albums and AROBTTH was NO.29!

^ do you have the entire list?

I think AROBTTH is the best coldplay album and then X&Y.

Cmon did you check the list, it's just the beatles, pink floyd, U2, ac/dc, depeche mode over and over

good album, but including beatles in that list is like pull the fish out of water and tell her to live on land
you can get male fishes as well, although pollution may make them display female characteristics

I'm just trying to imagine the playlist being played.. First Whole Lotta Love; then Clocks; then Riders on the Storm.:laugh3: That would be amusing!

Loretin, I'm with you - Parachutes should have made it too!! Maybe it will eventually.;)

I just think songs are like flowers - they're all beautiful, and trying to rank them is such nonsense. Enjoy each one for it's own unique beauty in the landscape of life.:daisy:

My two cents: If no more albums were to come out...looking back, I believe AROBTTH would be symbolic of the peak of coldplay's potential, songwriting and their greatest album.

Each C.D is a world of it's own. I think possibly my favorite album is parachutes. I have a lot of associations connected with that album from when I first heard it. It fit my day-to-day mood and vibe to a T.

At night, the relay of sparks-yellow-trouble is one of my most favorite coldplay experiences. However, A rush of blood to the head, I think, fills in most of what parachutes lacked. Soft, mellow acoustic vibes were replaced with pounding, rock out, even head banging riffs that get you excited, unlike parachutes which relaxes. Overall, I feel that A rush of blood to the head is a more complete album as it gives you a taste of everything. It's a complete concert with the brilliant entrance with politik, the soft ballad of the scientist, the flowing piano-rock of clocks, exotic flavors like daylight, the contrasting, acoustic session of green eyes and warning sign, the cashy ominence of the title track and the outstandingly beautiful amsterdam. It has the best entrance and finish I've ever heard in any album. and with my favorite track (clocks), the variety and resounding power in fullness every song possesses...I think you got give it to AROBTTH as far as album's go. X&Y, for me, just fell a little short. I think that they went in the right direction with the techno-ish feel of it (they had pretty much exhausted everything else leading up to it) but 3/4 through it begins to become tiresome and almost lackluster...too much maybe.

Ah but the whole list consists of Pink Floyd, Beatles, Rolling Stones and U2 over and over again. (I think someone's already said that :P)

And I'm sorry but why would OK Computer be at 133 after a bunch of bad, bad stuff? (Well a lot of it is actually awesome but not better than OKC. ;))
