Morning Bell

The lights are on but nobody's home

And everyone wants to be your friend

And nobody wants to be afraid

And everyone wants to be your friend

Which version of the Radiohead song "Morning Bell" do you prefer, the Kid A version or the Amnesiac version.

i think both versions are great, but the kid a version is a bit better imo.

i prefer both

Yeeecchhhh I hated the Amnesiac version. It just ruined it for me. The Kid A one was amazing because it sounded like kind of under pressure and really dark, and it got louder and quieter only when it needed to, you know, and Thom's voice was so much more interesting. I don't know, whenever I listen to Morning Bell from Kid A, there's just this atmosphere that sends chills down my spine...love that song... MB/A was a little strange, but not in like the brilliant radiohead strange way. :P

I said Kid A. I used to really not like the Amnesiac version but now I enjoy it quite a bit. Just not as much as the Kid A version. I just find there is something much more challenging about the Kid A version, something that I can connect to and enjoy more.

I love both versions... it's like the Kid A one is right there in your face and great, but Amnesiac is like hearing an echo of the song, or seeing it reflected in a windy lake.

I have a habit of hearing bits of music in dreams- things I've never heard before, and then I can only remember a note or two when I wake up... I get the exact same feeling when I listen to Morning Bell/Amnesiac that I get when trying to remember a dreamsong. And that's why I love it so much. Amnesiac is the sound of a forgotten dream. Appropriate title. :nice:

^Haha, and well you usually remember it in the morning!

What you say is interesting. As I read I suddenly realised that it's aproximately the same for me. Morning Bell/Amnesiac is like Radiohead trying to remember a song they had made long ago (actually at the same time, but, I don't know). Nice title in this way.

Hmm..some very interesting thoughts you have Erin. How do you come up with how to describe this stuff....?

;)

Kid A is a bit better, just because of the atmosphere of the song and album...and how it echoes the end of Idioteque at the start.

Curiously enough I was just listening to the Amnesiac version when I saw this thread.

Amnesiac, altough the starting is a bit abrupt. but that dreamy riff at the end really makes the song, while KidA version doesn't seem to have a clear structure

IMBW = i might be wrong (live recordings)

i personnally prefer the kid a version, more haunting imo

Kid A of course
