Awards and Achievements

Featured Replies

Its award season here on Coldplaying, and in the spirit of it, let me question the point of it all!

Only kidding.

Do you hold your awards and achievements close and dear to you? Do they mean a lot to you? Do you keep a cabinet full of trophys that you made yourself or bought at garage sales?

I was pretty 'meh' about getting awards from school or sports when I was a kid (Mainly football and baseball) but I dont hate it, old medals are probably still up in the attic back home.

Any excuse for celebrating is a good one, on the other hand.

I like celebrating when I get awards!! I just never get any...

That's hardly surprising.;)

I wouldn't rule out conspiracy, either.

I used to get alot of awards in school. Then from about jr. high on my marks slowly decreased and I wasn't a wiz kid anymore.

The last proper award I got was from my 2nd year of college, getting an achievement award for my grades being better than expected.

last night right was my school speech night where i collected my a level certificate

fun stuff

first time i've been home from uni too

good stuff

innit

oh my god, we went to some random place and i walked into this random boy's little brother who i see all the time coz he's the jcr of Grizedale mad stuff

he went to my primary school and all was good

i confused him with his eldest brother at first though

i got home though to find my brother got the new windows media player...it's taken me a while to get used to it

i want the old and simplified one back

oh and it's nice to be back on coldplaying...i've not posted in 2 months or something

no idea why though

i saw barry too last night

I've had one or two awards at school... And they were like, excuse awards, you know.

When everybody gets a paper with 'best student', 'most friendly person', 'modest and smart', I always had something like 'likes to read' or whatever, they just didn't want us losers to feel bad.

I mean, I actually was a good student, I was just too lazy.

So I guess I don't like awards and they're meaningless.

But if one day I get something I really want and feel like I deserve it, then I'll be very pleased. I think.

^^Yeah how annoying.

I have a few academic awards...

But they don't mean anything to me because I don't work hard for my grades or anything, so it's just like their rewarding my half-assery, haha.

In primary school there was an assembly every week where awards were handed out to whoever for say "being helpful to other students" and stuff like that. I suspected the teachers just went down the roll to select people though.

My most prized award was when I got age champion at the athletics a few years back. All the girls in my age group were so up themselves which made the victory even sweeter, one even cried because she didn't win!

I've received a few academic awards in high school too, which is nice.

It's fun to win!

uh....there is this award I got for coming 1st in my division of Orienteering, it was the reginals and I'm so proud of it because when I was running, I got really lost but for some reason, I still won!

Frozen Ents is back I see

One of my favourites!:)

Well you might be in the running for Best Coldplaying Newcomer.

whoa really? that's cool. I don't think I really post enough for it though

I have a lot of trophies from sports. I don't know why parents of kids on rec league sports teams seem to think the players all need trophies. I mean, winning actual awards and stuff makes sense, but just playing on a team isn't cause for a medal or trophy.

I also have a couple academic ones for reading and stuff.

16 trophies and 4 medals.

My dad keeps all this crap in the cabinet in the dining room. It's not all that important.

 <-- puts on mean face

I'm not mean!

I have a bunch for piano trophies/medals/certificates but they don't mean anything to me since I quit piano when I was 11.

I have a couple of math awards that have just piled up over the years...they're on my shelf. I mean I guess I'm kind of proud of them but I think those kind of awards aren't really fair... I mean just because I scored higher on some test than some other kid i get a trophy? Maybe they tried even harder than me! (I know I didn't try very much.) I don't know.

Oh, I made a forum poll in the official Muse boards, and it was deemed the #1 Amuseing Thread in an aussie magazine. :laugh3:

I'm very proud of that one. :laugh3:

I have those honor roll certificates that I don't care much about. Then I have all these certificates from community service and all these activities I did. But I have this trophy from 6th grade when I won first place in this district competition in writing. :D

I have a few lying around, but none worth mentioning really....
