Spies88
yes ! right at 3.46 !!!! not sure if it's jonny who says that but i can hear a voice saying something !!!Ā you know what i think your right......no one else is singing back up in we never change.....so i assume chris is the only person that had a mic during that recording.....it might be chris saying something to one of them
hobbestheprince
I messed around with it in my recording program and it sounds like he said, "sure" or something to that effect. It sounds like one word to me. Either "check" or "sure."
ApproximatelyInfinite
this one is completely obvious, but in the intro to "harmless," chris says "ill give it one more try i think" or something to that extent.Ā also, the first time i listened to the instrumental version of "clocks" i noticed there's a stray (yet almost definitely intentional) twang of jonny's guitar right when chris sings the word "clocks." i never noticed that before i heard it in the intstrumental version!Ā and i love love love the way chris breathes in "swallowed in the sea." it makes me feel like hes in the room with me or soemthing. ApproximatelyInfinite
hey , would you mind uploading Harmless for me ? :embarassed:Ā i have no idea how to do that :\. im really really sorry! um maybe try searching in the multimedia section?Ā a song i wish belonged to coldplay is "Your Love Means Everything" if you listen you can hear the keys being hit as the song is being played......listen very carefullyĀ how i wish this song was entirely theirs!! i love it to death; its in my top 10 coldplay songs of all time list even though its technically not theirs. its brilliant. god i love that song.Ā two other things ive noticed: -in "see you soon" (my #1 coldplay song), you can hear chris's fingers sliding over the metal strings of the acoustic guitar, especially on the thick gauge of the thickest string. ive always liked that; it makes it even more intimate. -in "trouble" if you turn the volume WAY up in the chorus, the word "trouble" in the line "ahhh, i never meant to cause you trouble" echoes a bit so it turns into "trouble trouble-troub-tro...". for some inexplicable reason, i can hear this echo much much easier when im watching the UK version of the music video. all other times ive got to turn up the volume.Ā and i always thought the noise in "we never change" was will rather than jonny, but who really knows? :D

Tnspieler1012
I haven't listened to Parachutes with headphones on before ... I know, I know, it's kind of odd not to listen to an album like that without headphones .... anyways, I listened to "We Never Change" and I noticed that little pump organ that they used for most of the album. It's right where he says, "making new friends would be easy." It kinda swells in and really adds some more body to the song, filling it out nicely.Ā It's also used in "Yellow" when the last chord is struck you can hear it ... I never really noticed these things before but it definately adds more to the songs.Ā Your right! It wasn't until I read the interview with the producer of parachutes that I found out they even had that pump organ(I knew about the organ in life is for living, but I just thought they brought in some accordionist). It really contributes a nice subtle atmosphere to the mix. perhaps it's a key ingredient to the truly unique sound of the album.
ApproximatelyInfinite
go to rapidshare.com =D=DĀ yes, but dont you need an account or something for that? besides, i have an inhumanely slow internet connection, so it probably wouldnt work. :confused:Ā in "have yourself a merry little christmas" you can hear the clicking of the piano keys as well.Ā and since this is a thread about things we hear in coldplay songs and not just hidden studio noises... :sneaky: i personally think chris's best vocal work is on "shiver," and that even though he's an effing AMAZING vocalist on everything he does (especially AROBTTH tracks, IMO), i think he reaches this level or something in "shiver" that he never manages to completely return to in any other song. i can just feel the emotion and longing in his voice in that song, and his range is incredible. every time i hear it i can never get over his voice. i think its the epitome of his vocal work, which is semi sad because its so early in his career. though "GPASUYF" comes close, i think. and then "the scientist". Spies88
hey i was just listening to "Til Kingdom Come" and i heard what sounded like a flute in the song....i have never noticed that instrument before i thought it was just plain acoustic and vocals.....but i believe there is a flute in the background of the track.....does anybody else notice this? chuck kottke
Maybe a synthesized pump organ part?? It could be a flute, but has other sound qualities.

ColdplayBirdsFly
Subtleties in Coldplay SongsĀ ^ Yup, pretty sure it is a harmonica! They have one in the live version at least.Ā Also, I just love how if you listen real hard, you can hear Jonny's rusty voice in the 2nd verse of "Don't Panic" and then his (hilarious) monotone:D voice during the bridge of "Fix You"Ā And on A LOT of tracks Will does some of the high-pitched vocals/backing vocals (Amsterdam, Yellow, White Shadows, Everything's Not Lost... just to name a few off the top of my head)
TraceOddity
Yeah, Jonny's voice on Don't Panic is just sweet. He's no Chris in the vocal department, but it's so honest the way he sings it.:)

He's no Chris in the vocal department, but it's so honest the way he sings it.:)Ā aww, i love jonny's voice!! the second verse of dont panic always makes me smile. its always cracked me up that jonny has such a low singing voice and will has such a high one, though. i dont know why, but will just looks like he should have a deep voice, whereas jonny looks more like he should have more of a midrange voice.Ā in "warning sign," you can hear chris breathe and sigh in the "and i crawl back into your open arms" part, and at the very end you can hear him stand up from the piano bench or something; you can definitely hear creaking wood. You can hear creaking wood in For You too, if I remember correctly. THat's what's so charming about micing a real piano instead of using an electric one...all the human noises the mic picks up.
