you'll burn in hell

not really, I don't see any problem in that... maybe you'll love them again after the new album release

what made you lose your love for them?

...I still love them, but Muse is creeping up on me as #1

*Kicks Matt away*

radiohead

and now you can't like any other bands anymore?

that's... interesting.

No I still love lots of other bands, just not coldplay.

don't know why but on the time between one album and next one, always appear a new thread like this one..

hope your coldplay love will be back with next album.

anyways there's nothing bad on that, there are periods when we prefer different artist/bands. :)

for me since summer best band is Placebo and i hadn't listened to Coldplay regularly during several months this year.. but now i'm back to coldplay love. :)

EDIT: but do you hate them now? (is the opposite of love...)

i think that you're going through one of those cycles when you discover a whole bunch of other new music that cp takes a back seat for a while. and in the meantime, you're getting inspired and touched by other music so going back to cp, particularly since there isn't any new music out lately, you find them a bit tiring.

i could be completely wrong but i don't think you don't not-love them you just love a lot of other bands right now. perhaps.

I think starskay has it pretty much right. but I'm still somewhat confused. I'm a big fan of radiohead as well...but I don't see how that alone should cause you to dismiss coldplay. I guess what I'm looking for is..."Do you think radiohead and these other bands overshadow coldplay to the point where you don't think coldplay is nearly as good as you once thought? Do you like coldplay less because you've been exploring radiohead and these other bands, or is there something that's changed about coldplay themselves that's caused this switch of heart?"

True story.

Aw. That's sad.

I'm certainly not into them the way I used to be. These days I usually listen to Travis instead when I'm in a Coldplay mood. But I still love AROBTTH and Parachutes way too much to ever not like them anymore. Maybe I'm just really sentimental.

I keep them tucked away for emergencies now, because I was listening all the time for a while, and it lost something. If I stay away long enough at a time, it's fresh enough again to pull me out of my worst bad days. I've found alot of music that I love over the last 3 years or so, but nothing else that can pull me out of my deepest darkest moods quite as well.

I just hope they really rediscover themselves on the new album, and that the marketing machine that ruined their reputation on X&Y won't go into super obnoxious mode again. Nothing like having something crammed down everyone's throats to make them resent it. Coldplay's greatest strength isn't the big soaring stadium stuff; it's when they write their smaller intimate songs that make the rest of the world melt away. Stuff that can make just some music and a hot drink the perfect antidote for a wet, grey day when everything aches and the world feels like it's going to end. That's the Coldplay I still love. :nice:

Goodness, I meant to write a paragraph and came up with an essay. :stunned:

That's not sad....sad is someone that has 9,000+ posts on a board of a band that they don't like. Perhaps you should leave.

why leave?? I mean... we don't just have the coldplay section

Why stay? Why spend your time on a site of a band you don't support? Example:I hate Oasis. I have not and never will be a member of any Oasis boards. I don't visit there. I don't hang out there. I don't read stuff there.

I have never understood people that join boards/ stay on boards of bands they don't like. There are 10 zillion message boards out there. If it's not your thing, move on.

maybe because he used to love them and well.. we have the WoM section where you can discuss about any other band... and the lounge sometimes is an interesting place.. and we even have the multimedia section for another bands...

also because this is the best board in the universe :smoking: so I don't think there's a reason to leave

True, but every other board out there also has those things. And he didn't post this in any of other forums, he chose to say it in the Coldplay forum. He could have just hung out in the other forums and said nothing, but instead he comes in here and says he doesn't like the band. It's just my own personal thing. People that do shit like that always look like losers to me. WTF hang out here? Get a life. I can't imagine hanging out on some message board or posting there if I didn't care about the basic subject of the board. I guess I value my time more that he does.

Yeah I think I just got tired of them. I guess the point when I could say that I had started not listening to them that much was when released the Hardest Part video. I just found that it seemed the whole album was being over-marketed and that Coldplay weren't being themselves, that they were just getting too big too fast and I wasn't enjoying it.

I think the major way that Radiohead has changed my view of Coldplay is just the feeling that Coldplay sort of got hung up on The Bends style Radiohead and didn't move on and make music that was more their own and original. For example X&Y has great songs on it yes but I feel that they took a major step backwards because they just kept doing the same redundant thing.

Its not that I don't like Coldplay...I just don't listen to them or like them nearly as much as I used to.

The reason I stay on here is because I like the people in the Lounge, and like talking about other bands in the WoM.

First of all I think you misunderstood my initial comment. Nowhere have I said that i don't like coldplay, I was just saying my coldplay love has gone away. I wanted to see peoples reactions, see if anybody had similar stories etc.

I don't really see the point of telling me to get a life and that I don't value my time just because of a statement I like.

high five for liking Muse, for kicking Matt I would give you five facekicks

you'll burn in hell

for your sins

"I used to love Coldplay but now I don't "

And your POINT is?

"Why stay? Why spend your time on a site of a band you don't support? Example:I hate Oasis. I have not and never will be a member of any Oasis boards. I don't visit there. I don't hang out there. I don't read stuff there.

You know who p**es ME off?

The Coldplayer-haters who have to post nasty sh*t on YouTube.

What does that say about THEIR dire need of lives?

To create discussion. Why do people post of forums?

I wish Coldplay would 'graduate' musically...that's not to say they're not great, but I want to hear that Radiohead-esque evolution Briggins is talking about. I think Brian Eno is going to really bring that out of them.

I haven't been loving them and listenning to them constantly like I used to either. OTher bands, and my own music are drawing me away, but I still love them. It's just an open marriage these days, lol. I even needed a break from them for a while, because you can only listen to a band's catalogue for so long before it gets old.

And I agree with Briggins. Just because I'm not the HUGE fan I was, doesn't mean I don't still love this place. It's the only forum I get involved in, even though I like other bands, because I like the people and the relationships I've formed here.:)

I agree, I think that Brian Eno is the only person on the planet who can save their fourth album from being a big flop. The work Brian Eno did with Talking Heads and U2 is absolutely phenomenal.

- Briggins

I'm soooo happy for their huge success. They really deserve it. But I miss the days when they were 'my band' and hardly anyone knew about them. I can share, lol. But when you first discover a band it's so exciting...like first love!
