Poll: Who's Your Favorite GOP Candidate?

Featured Replies

What do you think?

*This is not a thread to bash the GOP, i personally hate what the party has become, but then again i am a Ron Paul supporter, and he isn't a GOP fan either!*

I lean towards Ron Paul. When it comes to monetary issues and foreign policy and sovereignty and taxes, I believe I agree with Paul. However I don't agree with anyone on border issues. Mike Huckabee is my second favorite GOP candidate (probably). He sounds like a good leader, and genuine. But really there is no one who I am behind 100%. I guess I never was....

In a past life (i.e. before college and whatnot), I liked McCain - the man's honest and candid, but I've just agreed with so little that he's said recently that I can't really support him anymore.

I kinda sorta like Romney, but none of the GOP is all that impressive this time around.

I'm so glad I don't have to vote in the next US election...I don't really like any of the GOP Candidates. I voted for Thompson in the poll simply because I'm a fan of Law & Order...sad, I know...

I'd be voting for Nader anyway.

I don't know all that much about it but Ron Paul seems like a really good choice from what I've heard. I can't stand Huckabee. His views on aids are backwards.

what's GOP and who are these people?

Grand Old Party/ Republican Party

and those people are their candidates.

I don't know enough about American politics to answer this question to be honest.

Apparently Ron Paul stands for the Truth Movements, and I like that.

Its really admirable considering hes running and alot of people don't like the truth.

i would like to not see a republican in office, but it aint gunna happen

You do realize both parties are neo-cons? They only differ on minor issues, but none of that matter because they don't even control most of the nation anyways.

Both parties have their fair share of corruption, but the neo-cons (maybe one could just shorten it to cons) are definitely in the Republican camp. And most of the Jack Abramoff mafia-style corruption sits squarely within their camp as well.

I like Ron Paul because he stands up for the US Constitution, even though the document has been so shredded in recent years..

But my vote goes to John Edwards or Dennis Kucinich! End the corruption by ending the political race kickback scheme!

The cons came from the far left of the democratic party...look at their policies and they are neo-con policies. The cons spread from dems to repubs...they have the almost exact same policies, just worded differently with a small enough difference to keep most people oblivious.

We dont follow the constitution anymore...because of BOTH parties. John Edwards has the same core policies of every other democrat and republican. You're picking him based on the smallest of differences.

Dont get me wrong, those small differences can make huge problems or fix some problems, but the end is the same, the same core policies are done no matter who is in office.

Who controls the money controls everything....now I ask you who controls the money?

Oh and let me add John Edwards is a sell out to big business. Whoever gets into office is there because of the money and influence of big business. And guess what, they'll do what the people who put them in power want, thats why they were put in power.

Our presidents(both parties) are elected because how they treat big business, they are all funded by them(except Ron Paul) How can you trust someone who can be bought? Once they get into power they owe big business's that paid for them to get their favors, thus we have a horrible mess on our hands in Iraq, and the economy.

Essentially everyone of these candidates is paid for by big business, no one else gives them enough money to make a difference, so their loyalty lies with those who pay for them. However Ron Paul is supported mostly by average Joe's giving him money, not big business's....so who would better run our nation, one who was paid for and owes big business all the favors they can give, or someone paid for by average americans?

Who will relate better and do what is good for the average people of this nation then someone elected by the average people using their money, not paid for by some fat white man who owns a business?

Ron Paul, after all Gareth have said about him.

Ron Paul appears to want to do away with many of the Government agencies we need to have as safety-nets for disasters - one example would be Katrina and New Orleans. A hobbled (underfunded) FEMA headed by inept apointees from Bush could not act effectively in aiding victims after the disaster. If that's what Ron Paul wants to eliminate, I will not be casting my vote for him.

And, the neo-cons were in the Nixon and Ford administrations when Ray McGovern was a high-ranking intermediary between the CIA and the White House. At the time, he said they were laughed at as "the crazies" for their illogical and rash thinking. The neo-cons were in the Nixon, Ford, and Regan administrations while Ray was there. Perhaps you're thinking of Wolfowitz, who started out as a somewhat "liberal" person, and after speaking with MacBeth's wife (Podherts), had an unfortunate conversion to the "Dark Side," and talked the admin. into a war in Iraq.

So, looking at the money in earnest, while Ron Paul might be funded by small contributions of numerous quantities (though I have yet to look), the non-leading candidates on the Democratic Party side take much less, and much less lop-sided funds. Plus, Edwards took matching funds.

And you could be correct, but I need to do some more research! I find that, looking at the money trail, Kucinich looks reasonably free of undue influence, and outside of Hillary (who took the money and voted for bills based on the campaign cash's influence, as I see it), they get a lot from Unions (broad bases of support & in favor of better working conditions and wages for the majority of citizens), and some from law firms. The money from investment firms troubles me, as it shows influence from a wall-street of over-inflated markets and property scams hurting the average citizen. Buying influence today means preventing necessary oversight - without which the referee cannot police the game properly, and we all suffer as a result.

Doing away with FEMA as we know it might not be such a bad idea, if there was a viable replacement.

So, if you had a gun to your head, and you had to choose the best of the worst, who would you pick, CHuck?

Hi Tracie!

Well, I think FEMA was working well & with reasonable efficiency before Bush's banditos stole the White House, and they may have underfunded FEMA intentionally to make it fail. (But they spared no time in giving the "have mores" oddles in gargantuan tax breaks). Gads, Bush had Ken Lay as a key contributor - nothing could be worse than this Admin.! They're making Nixon look like a saint!

Hmm.. If I had a gun to my head, and I had to pick the "best of the worst" - like, what will no doubt happen given the freezer-loads of cold cash.. Hmm.. I would hope to be able to pick Edwards or Barack.. If Hillary get the primary nom., I think I will vote for Hillary; but only if the race is close. If it's not close, to heck with her - I'm voting for Kucinich or Ron Paul, as I might as well. If the more honest ones get more votes than expected in the end, then the next cycle, that voting block will have power!

BTW - who would you vote for in the General?

i don't like edwards and barack is too young. I like hillary and biden, but he stands no chance

Nader. I'm now a card-carrying member of the Canadian Green Party, and although the US party's ideas are somewhat different from ours, I respect Nader a lot.

Smart man.;)

But it's a shame I was born in Britain, so unless I marry a lovely American girl I can't vote.

I dunno. I don't really pay attention. Well, I'm trying not to. My dad is a delegate for Fred, so I'm always around all the political bustle. I really hate it.

Nader Grader

Hey Tracie, I'm a member of the GREEN party too!! I agree, Nader's got great ideas, but I feel that he could have struck a deal with Gore in 2000, and we'd all be a lot better off today.. 8 years of hell has ensued, so I wonder about Nader's wisdom in the political arena..

I think Nader should be appointed head of the Dept. of Transportation, or maybe the Consumer Products Safety Commission.
