Who's buying LP4?

Featured Replies

Let's not forget that Coldplay are bound to release another two albums with EMI. They certainly won't want them to be digital online zips.

Yeah, I think I'll end up getting the physical CD. Makes for more versatility - while I can play a digital release on my computer and iPod, it's a bit of a hassle to burn a CD for the car and such, and then it's got no cover to the CD...

Then again, iTunes does sometimes offer some exclusive tracks...

omg, all this talking makes me sooo excited about the new album!!!

:D

well, i'm not sure yet if i could resist downloading a leaked version.

i guess i wouldn't download a leaked album, but... well. no, i wouldn't.

but i know everyone would be talking about the new tracks here on this board. lol.

and i'm going to buy a real CD though those "10 hours inbetween" would kill me, too!

hahaa... i'm not sure, but i guess i'd even miss classes just to get it first. you know... hahaha. i'm a fucking fan. we're supposed to do such things.

Haha I wish I could skip school for it. I can't ever pull it off. :P

oh, of course! i was just talking about in the semi-distant future of the music industry :)

i never would have been able to before either, but now that i'm in college, i'm TOTALLY willing to skip class for coldplay!! i'll even miss an entire day to see them in concert (in PHILLY!! :D)

actually, thats a lie: a year and a half ago, i skipped school for the only time in my life (with my parents permission, though) to see coldplay. and i didnt get away with it: my teacher nearly ate my ass and it almost cost me my school prefect position!

Maybe the 10 hours of could-be-listening could be cut down a little by camping out in front of the store. Just a thought. But what well-stocked stores open ridiculously early?

Not only will I buy the CD, I'll buy the 12" as well because vinyl rulez ok? And if the album is as good as i hope it will be then the singles too.

haha, well places like target open at 9:00 AM, as does the mall around here...but honestly, why would you camp out when you can download it all safe and warm at home?? to me its about the music first and THEN the packaging. we'll undoubtedly see the artwork online and in ads beforehand anyway, so that will tide me over. i'm much more curious about what's behind the artwork, which i will have already seen by then.

besides, most places dont take too kindly to camper-outers unless theres something HUGE theyre waiting for, like the wii or harry potter. i'm of the belief that coldplay falls into this category, but i dont think most of the american public would agree. if some target worker asked me why i was camping out and i said "the new coldplay album!" theyd probably laugh in my face (because id probably be the only one there) and then tell me to get the hell off the sidewalk. :laugh1:

I have it planned...sorta.

I'm gonna find out the release date, add on a week because I live on the most isolated part of the world. I'm going to open up my li'l piggy bank (currently with only $65 in it) tkae the money I need, go to the music store, pick up LP4...take a quick look at the track listing, walk up to the counter, look the cashier straight in the eye and say "I'd like to buy this please"

If she asks me any questions about my musical taste, I say out straight that I really like the bands music, take LP4 home, call Bebe and ask her to come over ASAP to listen to it. We both listen to the CD, she goes home. I log on here and tell you guys all about it.

Phew!

Have you ever visited the lounge? There are many people here who don't even like Coldplay.

I'll buy the actual CD, can't get the band to sign your download. :P

They do not visit this area do they..:dozey: If this thread were in the lounge, then your comment might be relevant...

Get the hard CD and just import it into iTunes. Make tons of copies because I'm not all obsessive over how I treat it. For instance, my real Parachutes and AROBTH are completely scratched and torn up. haha. I have many backup copies. I don't treat my CDs nicely. Usually I crack the cases while I am still opening them. :P Whoops.

but I keep the booklets nice and pretty.

And of course I will download the leaked version. I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL!

I won't, I couldn't bear it. I am the type that will wait for something (like the mail which STILL hasn't come yet), anything.

So any one of you can brag about how cool it is, but I ain't downloading it...

I respect that Emma. But unless someone steals my laptop, handcuffs me and throws me in a dungeon where no internet connection can be found... well then nope I can't help it. :)

i have no patience whatsoever when it comes to things i care about. so downloading the hypothetical leak it is, even if i have to go buy something from the coldplay.com shop so i put some money back into their hands for it :D

Thats a nice way of redeeming yourself...

Speaking of which, I really want that purple top they're selling at the COldplay.com shop...

^it's a nice way of redeeming myself in the monetary aspect of it all. even though i'll HAVE to download it if it's leaked (no question), i'll still feel bad, because it does ruin the whole excitement and romaticism of the thing, especially on THEIR end. not to mention all the people around the world that will download the hypothetical leak and not give a damn about giving money back (i know they dont really need the money, but that's so not the point). for me it has nothing to do with getting a free album and everything to do with getting the album FASTER.

I'm a bit old-fashioned - I like to have a solid, tangible disk, which shines like a mirror ball on the one side, and has some ancient printing on the other that harkens to a day of solid bakalite (later vinyl). It just feels real to me; otherwise it's a little too lost in the ether..:vanish:

If I like the album, I'll probably try to buy it on vinyl. Can't stand downloading- I listen to CDs a lot, and I like having something solid and high quality.

LP4 on vinyl will be something I'd pay one hell of a lot for (and I really really really really want the Singles Box set!!!!!!!!!!!)

I wish I knew an easy way to get ahold of arobtth on vinyl. Alas I have neither the resources nor the access at the moment.

I have the box set. If you like proper records, its fantastic. I love it. If you just want it as a collectors item, well, I don't really see the point of that- it just takes up space and doesn't do anything.

I do want to have it so I can play it, but the reason my parents wont get it for me is because our record player is broken...

That would do it. Though I found the one in my room at a yardsale for about 10 bucks last summer, and it was a great one too. Mom said she's seen lots since then, so it's always worth a look.

I wanna get a nice small one and not a whole speaker unit, but mum says they don't exist...

First I'll download it if it's leaked :D, just for the curiosity and the fact that it takes days longer than everywhere else for an album to be released here.

Then when it's in stores, I'll buy the actual cd. Hopefully they'll release a same album version all over the world, cause I hate when there's different version/edition of the album in some countries.

because i'm a total geek, i already have this all planned out. :smart:

i'm going to preorder it on itunes so i can download it the second it becomes available. i'll listen to that all night, and then the first chance i get (meaning the next day) i'm going out to target or wherever and buying the physical CD. i much rather have the physical release; there's just something about having a tangible piece of work thats so much more satisfying. but i could NOT wait until its on the shelves like, 10 hours after it comes out. those 10 hours between midnight and when the stores open would make me crazy, knowing it's available for listening but i'm not listening to it!

That's what i was thinking about doing! :D I would diiiiie if it came out on a school day and i would have to wait til 3 to get the album. :bigcry:

So are you going to download it if it leaks?

I would like to say no but... i am human, and they are my favorite band. :P

But I would buy it legally afterwards, the boys have to eat. :laugh3:
