What do you do when you are sick?

Featured Replies

Inspired by the illness of Dave and other members of the forum who haven't felt top notch the past few days.

For me I spend alot of time just laying in bed. I find that even watching television or listening to music is just way too hard on the eyes and ears. I guess it depends on how sick I am. The past couple days though I've watched almost a whole season of Seinfeld as I just couldn't get the energy to go anywhere else.

I actually became a Coldplay fan because of a really bad flu (the sickest I've ever been in my life actually). Before it was too bad I watched the 2003 live dvd because they had shown it on CBC a few nights earlier. I watched it a few times and loved it. But then I got so sick that I just pretty much slept for 24 hours a day. I went down to under 100 pounds, which was disgusting and scary.

What about cravings? I always get a huge craving for a sub from Subway even though I know I can't eat it!

And another thing, mom always gives me ginger ale when I am sick. So that drink is pretty much ruined for me. Anytime I drink it outside of being sick, I am just reminded of being sick.

-the end

Since this is the first time I have been sick in 8-or so years, I can't remember what I did the last time, but this time I have been indoors, laying in bed/laying on the sofa watching telly.

I just lay in bed and just if I don't feel too bad I watch tv or listen some music

and about cravings... I always feel like eating icecream or hamburgers when I'm sick

Eurgh I am sick too, feels like that vomitting illness that's going round. I watch TV and feel sorry for myself.

I was sick... the same as you ^ in christmas eve

When I'm sick I drink tons of tea and just watch television. I always lose my appetite and end up losing a ton of weight ..

i just sleeeep. And try to keep myself entertained when i'm awake. And try to eat something which isn't easy.

But keeping myself entertained involves:

-reading

-watching tv/movies

erm, more sleeping

I just relax, go on the computer and watch TV. Read. Make french toast. Pretty much everything I did yesterday! :P

Sit in the wheelie-bin for a week.

I would have done, but our bin is nearly full due to the stupid fortnightly collection.

i watched a huge stack of DVDs when i was sick last august. most of them were kiddie movies, though, or things that werent so complicated so i could concentrate.

i was craving pizza hut pizza...which i could have eaten if my throat hadnt closed up. i was literally starving for 6 days because i couldnt swallow anything more than popsicles. that was the worst.

reading puts me over the edge, but TV is the best!

I found laying on the sofa yesterday when watching telly was very relaxing, although I kept drifting in and out of sleep though, meant I couldn't watch anything meaningful on the telly

Sleep if I'm really really bad, spend hours playing computer games otherwise.

i pretty much drink a lot of tea and get a lot of rest..

do you recycle as well?

I drink lemonade because i get all the fluids back into my body!:D

Then I sleep lots, sometimes a whole day, and maybe listen to a bit of music.

do you recycle as well?

Yep, it's a case of we have to recycle, or get the TVBC environmentally health inspectors around.

WTF. I am sick too. Like can't kick it at all.

Ever since my wisdom teeth were out, then came a sore throat, sneezing, nose all runny and even lost my voice.

So really all I've been doing is complaining and sitting around the house doing nothing. I have antibiotics but don't feel like taking them. Must let my body fight this off. ahhhhhhhhh.

When I'm sick, it's when i don't digest something. As a result i throw up the whole day, going to the toilet and coming back to the sofa. It's a real nightmare. The following morning I'm fine but exhausted until i eat a normal meal to get some strenght. Believe me or not it's true and I can't help it.:(

Sit in the wheelie-bin for a week.

so that's why you said you were doing nothing whilst i saw at work :P

all depends on the extent & type of sickness. last sick, was more pain than feeling ill so slep for most of the day.

when I had flu it varied day to day, sometimes i slept, others I read, watched tv, or played on the computer.

i find i have a really short attention span when i'm not feeling so well, so flit around from thing to thing not really doing much of anything

Immune boosters or something.

If anything they are certainly yummy!

last time I was ill was in november last year and I had that nasty stomach flu, I had to spend the day in bed as I just didn't have any energy whatsoever. I should have had a few days in bed because it took me about 4 days even start getting back to normal again.
