Who's gonna be massive in 2008?

Featured Replies

Alberta Cross, Courteneers, British Sea Power (not new, but their new album is a beast), Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong. Anyone got any others?

Also I think Metric might take off a bit more.

hopefully the new Coldplay album.... there due for a comeback.

True dat. :nice:

A radio station here in Philly had a 'most anticipated album of 2008' poll and Coldplay was number 1. :)

as it should be number 1, its been three long years since x and y

It's been waaaaay too long. I've been getting all antsy for the past year!

Hopefully if they are taking all this time to make it, it means it'll come out frickin' amazing.

I was a bit dissapointed by X&Y.... live versions of the album were way better than the studio version.... seeing them live was ace.

But I am hoping this next album will be as great as AROBTTH... if not greater.. because the 3rd was just meh. They are a much better band than that.... and I know this one is going to be great. :)

I wouldn't mind a new U2 album, or a new Oasis album.

Other than that I don't really care.

Snow Patrol are coming along again Christmas 08, hopefully they're break ww!

Keane, Their Third album will hopefully push them ahead....

Coldplay Oasis and U2 are already massive you fools

:rolleyes2:

If you're going to come to a forum you don't have to be rude.

^give him/her a break. He/she is a nube. He/she doesn't understand yet, and will soon learn the way of the forum.

He/she has been around since May 2006. So not exactly new, just not many posts put still its dumb just to start posting and call people fools.

I'm not actually that offended....it is an "odd" topic though. Didn't really clarify what "massive" meant.

Most massive artists seem to come out of the rap music world. Most rockers tend to be skinny.

we're discussing 'albums' as well....

:laugh3:not Meatloaf!!!

Foals apparently

but they are MASSIVELY overrated

with regards to Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, they are pretty good actually, I like Lucio Starts Fires and it has a great video to match. I don't think they'll be massive though

Personally I think it's more dumb to respond to a 'next big thing' questionnaire with Coldplay, Oasis, Keane, Snow Patrol and U2. But maybe that's because I'm a newbie.. hopefully in a thousand's post time I'll be clever enough to spell 'but' wrong!

Perhaps you will be clever enough to name a thread about "next big thing" "next big thing" instead of whos gonna be massive.

I would've thought they meant the same thing. Lesson learnt!

Those 4 bands listed:

Alberta Cross - Never really heard of them, but I will try and check them out

Courteneers - Sorry, but I have a feeling this band are more fake than the Kooks, just read what they say in interviews, it sounds way too plastic, also their music lacks any character. So they will prob be massive

British Sea Power - Hopefully people will sit up and notice them.

Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong - Sorry but :laugh3:, they can't play instruments and have a rubbish name.

Hopefully this year, people will sit up and notice Blackbud when they get around to releasing album 2, well I can dream :P

I like the sound of Foals, however only time will tell if their album will be decent, so I reserve judgement.

Totally agree about the courteneers, everyone's going mad for them at the minute and they just sound like The Libertines, Kooks, any stripped-down pop-guitar band but without the character. One Night Only and Palladium are other good hints, not that they're anything more than above average.
