WOW, i'm just over-exited, finally we declared our independence from Serbia, and now we're our own country, KOSOVO:)

it's just one of the most amazing feelings, words cannot explain it to be honest

I just saw it on the news. It's wonderful news, and made better for knowing someone I 'know' online is a part of it. Congrats!:D

I hope Kosovo's future is more joyous than its past was painful.

True about Russia(and Serbia too, doh). As of other countries, all of them are going to accept Kosovo as an independent state in matter of days I hope:)

Talisman, what's Russia's problem with this? Some old alliance with Serbia? Some new alliance with Serbia to have a presence in Southern Europe? Is this Putin's action, or more someone else's?? Personally, I trust Putin about as far as I can throw him! He's very out of step with his own people, and still locked into the old KGB mentality in many ways.. what would make the transition more likely at the UN??

wohoo, congrats! I hope everything will go well for your very own country in the future

as you said, Russia is an old alliance with Serbia, and that's why they don't want to accept this declaration of independence.

as far as your last question, could you elaborate more? i think i didn't get it.

cheers

Thank you Byron, and you do know that Great Britain is one the first countries that will recognize Kosovo's indepence, right?

I am aware of the fact. ;)

But it seems you're not aware of the fact that I am from Croatia. I am a fake Englishman.

Whoops. :P :\

.. Mother Russia has something else in mind (according to their bosses).. Although, I think, as with everything they do, there's always some other motive (I'll bet my boots on it), as altruism is not in the normal nature of old KGB bosses.. Apparently, they will be pushing for independence in some of the former Soviet republics' provinces, ostensibly because this would only be fair to independence movements everywhere; but in reality, probably to reduce their neighbor's strengths, and to negatively impact Chechnya and Georgia. And perhaps for internal reasons as well - to rally their population into xenophobic conditioning towards the outside world (look what they'll do to further disintegrate Mother Russia, if you let them!). I doubt it will work, as most Russians are now thoroughly modern, and don't want to go backwards; their government, however, is another matter altogether. Countries that keep getting smaller get defensive and neurotic a bit - I can understand that..

I just hope Russia and Serbia don't slide backwards again - it's just no fun, and I like the idea of being in a world where everyone gets along fine.. They both have a lot to be proud of, and no sense in getting too worked up about places that never really belonged in their nation's boundaries..

But the main thing is Congratulations on your independence in Kosovo!! YEA!!:) Keep the economy improving, and have fun!!;););)

congrats! this is great news for the world. one more country rids itself from the sphere of russian influence.
