A shitty job and because the stress of it was making me ill. Finally cracked and handed my notice in.

Now trying to justify it in my head :uhoh:

If you quit because of awful conditions, I can see that... some of the jobs that I had held in the past were nothing short of deadly dangerous, and nothing was being done to improve the conditions.

How is the economy in England? .:) If you're a go-getter, and have some skills, I think you'll do fine - there are a lot of jobs out there, and a lot of needs not being met. Maybe there's something you really have wanted to do, but were afraid to take the leap? Well, maybe this is your chance!

If you want to apply yourself in some other area, could going back to get an advanced degree help? Technical degree? Put some feelers out in the job market, and see what's up-and-coming, or what will be in high demand. Often, some things get overlooked, and those jobs may be gems in the rough. In the meantime, there's always on-line auction houses, if you have a lot of stuff to sell.. Or, take a part time job anywhere to tide you over while you go searching..

Best of Luck, and keep on looking!;)

Well, where do you live? I know how to get you hooked up with some fun jobs...

;)

oh poor you. get another cool jobs then, mimixxx!

Oh that is scary, quitting your job without having another one to go too takes some serious courage!

Maybe Ren hires you

I know, I've got the fear. But I figure my health is more important and if the worst comes to the worst I'll just have to get a shitty job until I find a good one. There's more important things in life than money.

Hehe, maybe he could hire me to act out Across The Universe and Eternal Sunshine whenever he can't get to a DVD player :idea2:

You're right. Your physical/mental health in more important than any job. You may have to put up with a McJob for a while, but at least you won't have the crap from the job you quit hanging over you. Good luck!

Thank you. I know I did the right thing, it's just not worth being miserable over.

On the bright side, at least it's not a relationship. I had to get out of one last year that was literally making me sick. That's really hard! A new partner's harder to find than a new job. (lucky for me, I found one!)

Me too! That's far harder, least in a job all you do is hand over a piece of paper saying "Yeah, um bye" and the recipient won't cry pathetically and beg you to stay.

Exactly.

I think carphone whearhoue have place near there ... good pay

Ah there's plenty more jobs in the....sea?!

I'm sure you'll find another one soon, but until then just think of it as a nice relaxing (money free....) holiday YAY :lol:

This is when you should have been clever and managed to get another job lined up, so when you handed in your notice at your old work, you could just enter the new job the next week, putting a brave face on your old job, counting down the days until the weekend/pay day.

Good move

I had a job like that. I was getting sick constantly due to stress (and the place being set up like a daycare- everyone got everything) I didn't quit. Instead I tried to hang in there, but eventually they fired me (and a lot of other people) for being sick too much. (go figure. :dozey:) It took my immune system about 2 years to recover, and I'm not sure it ever did totally. So not worth it for a crappy job.

Good luck finding a new one.

I guess if you have some savings to carry you over until your next job,it wouldn't matter much...

Bummer to hear that. Just go out and apply for a ton of new ones. I want to quit my job too. Or at least find a new one. Right now I'm trying to find some places hiring that I can apply online. :\ just have to keep trying.........

The problem is that some companies won't look at your application form, if your white and English, due to idiotic racist governement targets to employ people from 'minorities' backgrounds.

Not my words, but the words of an old family friend who took early retirement from being the main hirer (and firer) at a largeish company based locally, she got fed up with trying to meet the targets, turning away the better of the applicants down to the colour of their skin and where they were born.

Ummm. That's not a problem I'm facing at the moment. Mostly that I have a degree but no clinical training. hooooooooo huuuuumm
