February 24, 200818 yr Hey all, so here's what we know -- Compiled Tracklist (as of 25 Feb 2008) : - Lost! - Cemetries Of London - Yes! - Famous Old Painters - Glass Of Water - Poppy Fields - 42 - Rainy Day - Violet Hill - LeftRightLeftRightLeft - Prospekt's March - Strawberry Swing - Lovers In Japan - Song For The Escapist I don't think all the tracks will be included on LP4, but these are all the song candidates that we know of so far via Prospekt and the news. -- Personal Guesses: -First Single has been hinted to be the handclap-laden 'Cemetries Of London' (See Q magazine, February 2008 Issue) and would be released late march/ Early April. -I believe that Prospekt's March = LeftRightLeftRightLeft. LRLRL was perhaps a working title for the song until it got changed? - I am very sure that the album artwork and tracklisting is done via this information (Credit goes to Marcoldplayer :) ) 'Coldplay, warm hearts Coldplay were persuaded to write the closing credit track for new British film The Escapist, a Sundance hit. Now the band have seen and loved the film, they have decided to include 'Song for the Escapist' on their forthcoming album. I hear, too, that the record company was a little miffed at having to redesign the CD artwork to include the song on the track listing, but the band insisted and their patronage will, I'm sure, give this tough British film a boost.' - If I had to guess, the band seems very confident with the songs 'Lost!', 'Prospekt's March', 'Glass Of Water', 'Cemetries Of London', and 'Famous Old Painters'. They have been mentioned positively in Q Magazine and Prospekt's entries, thus they have a high chance on making it onto the final tracklist. -- Release Date? All hints point to an early summer release of May/June. I hope it comes out earlier, really. Maybe April? seeing that the album artwork, the tracklist, and mastering of the songs has been more or less finalised. I wouldn't be surprised if they did something crazy on how they would release their album (Think 'In Rainbows' by Radiohead.) -- Prospekt Entry Very very likely to be this upcoming week. We may even be lucky enough to hear a snippet of some of the new songs. (Or even better, the full song!) But maybe that's just wishful thinking. I have a feeling we may get the Album title in the next post. My other analysis for LP4 is in an older thread somewhere, so if you're interested to know, you could check it out. =)
February 24, 200818 yr thanks, didn't know about Song For The Escapist :) http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/featurepages/0,,2259488,00.html
February 24, 200818 yr Author haha I just went around the net to look for signs of it's existance to be sure, and sure enough, it's on the movie 'The Escapist''s IMDB page. Since the film has already been seen in the SUNDANCE fest, that means people have already heard it (most likely.. heh) Any details would be good =D
February 24, 200818 yr Song For The Escapist has basically been confirmed hasn't it?well not officially but a tabloid newspaper has found the info from somewhere...
February 24, 200818 yr "and sure enough, it's on the movie 'The Escapist''s IMDB page." here- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0961728/soundtrack
February 24, 200818 yr and..... Air Studios News: September/October 2007 Nick Wollage recorded the score to a new film ‘The Escapist’, closely followed by Geoff Foster recording the beautifully voiced Mara Carlyle performing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, all in The Hall. http://www.airstudios.com/news/news.shtml Much of LP4 was recorded here, wasn't it?
February 24, 200818 yr i don't think there will be a prospekt entry this week. They are usually over a month apart so i'm thinking maybe there will be one next week. and i don't think they will give a sample of a song... i've never really heard of a band just putting a preview of a new song on their website. but hopefully they will give us the album title in the next one. i hope they post something THIS week though because i'm dying.

I'm sure there are others. But that's no guarantee that Coldplay will ...
February 25, 200818 yr Personally, I think we'll get another Prospekt entry sometime next week. By then, everything will be done. I think we'll get a release, MAYBE the title. I was just on Elbow's website and they have a snippet of a song or two. All of this talk about a new song and we might know more specific details in the coming week is really getting me extremely antsy! I'll give 'em one thing, they sure do know how to keep us clamoring for any little detail! :)
February 25, 200818 yr Prospekts march is not a song! I don't know how people could be so misleaded by that one entry they wrote, they referred to prospek's march as how the album's process was going! not that "prospekt's march" is a song.

Thats what i tought also! I thought it was the bands progression aswell. But it is hard sometimes to interpret Prospekts Journals.
February 26, 200818 yr I don't know how people could be so misleaded by that one entry they wrote, they referred to prospek's march as how the album's process was going! not that "prospekt's march" is a song. I've always thought it's not a song title too! effectively I found it a stange title for a song... it's difficult to traslate sensefully to me too... Also they say 'prospekt' isn't the LP title and it's someone's signature... so it isn't a title at all... could it refer to 'album's process'? still an unsolved mistery
February 26, 200818 yr Also, about putting snippets of the album on the website. It's not that unlikely that they may do something like that. Remember that they did streamplay X&Y a week or so before it was officially released on the coldplayer. This then eventually turned into just 30sec soundbites of each song. So yeh, its possible. Wow...all this talk and closeness to the new album is making it feel like the days before christmas wen i was little!
February 27, 200818 yr I think "Prospekt's March" is a song for a number of reasons. Firstly, "March" is capitalised - if it was referring to the album's progress, then it wouldn't be. Secondly, the blog talks specifically about the song's mix - to me, it just doesn't read correctly if you were to think about it as album progress. In that case, it’d have to refer to the mix of the album as a whole. Everywhere else, the band talks about the mixing of individual tracks. Just my two cents, anyway.
February 27, 200818 yr I don't think there is a track titled "Prospekt's March", I'm pretty sure they're referencing another song that the man of the alias of "prospekt" is spear-heading. It didn't appear on the track list.

The way it's mentioned in the post definately make it seem like it is a song. however, i also agree that this may not be the songs REAL title. It may just be a song which this person 'prospekt' plays a large role in or something of that sort.
February 28, 200818 yr I still think it's not a song tho. but if somehow lost in translation and a very well thought out super mysterious game they all agreed on it turned out being one, glad to have extra tracks on this album. I do wonder now, are they still planning on keeping the album 45 minutes long? or due to all the extra writing that took place they just threw that short album idea away and are including all of the songs they have mentioned on it ? (which they really should, god knows there's no logical reasons to waste any coldplay material in this world haha)
March 3, 200818 yr famous old painters looks like an interesting song, but why is not mentioned on the RS article ?
March 3, 200818 yr famous old painters looks like an interesting song, but why is not mentioned on the RS article ? maybe because coldplay already spoke about it to Q magazine...or maybe bacause RS reporter did not hear that song while he/she was there. in the RS article we can read only 8 titles that could be on the album (+ non-album track "violet hill") , so there will be other songs on the album that we don't know, and famous old painters could be one of them..
March 3, 200818 yr maybe because coldplay already spoke about it to Q magazine.. and what they said about it ?
