COMMUNIST NAZIS ERRYWHERE!

^^ Exactly.

Baggins, listen, please. Believe in God, if you so wish, and believe in a God who is exclusively christian, if you like and need that.

What is more, believe in a God, though infinetly great and loving and wise, who still only understands little human souls who talk in christian prayers to him, and go to christian churches and sing christian songs. If you are not offended by that, Baggins, just go on believing.

But understand, accept and tolerate, that this is your choice and other people may think that allahu is aqubar or jahwe is wonderful or just nothing at all but still are great, good people, which is the most important bit, non? Could you get your brain to work that out and stop being melodramatic and so worried.

To use your slang: Since God has given you a brain, he want's you to use it, non? :wideeyed:

Yeah right. I always wonder why I post here. It's a challenge to find arguments

which would deffo make (what I consider to be terribly stuck) people start thinking. Futile, I know. Yet quite handy so to enter real life discussions about religion well prepared.

^ Could someone rewrite that last sentence in proper english, please?

Yes they certainly are.

Jesus was a communist. :P

No, He was not. In communism, wealth is stolen from those who work hard by the Government and given to the lazy and poor, in the end, ALL are equal...Equally poor because all end up being lazy due to the fact that there is no reason to work hard. It will all get stolen anyway.

In Capitalism, the hard worker is REWARDED with keeping their wealth and that wealth trickles down to the poor through job creation, innovation and charities.

In Christianity, Giving is to come from your voluntariy from your HEART, not by the Government forcing you to give.

IF Christianity is true AND I truly believe in what the bible says that those who reject Jesus Christ will go to hell for all of eternity, what kind of selfish idiot would I have to be not to warn people? I do respect their right to believe what they want, but I also respect my right to free speech. As long as I have breath I will tell people about Jesus Christ.

Conclusion, God has given me a brain. The evidence points to the bible being true. The bible says that those who reject Jesus Christ will go to hell forever. Jesus says to go into all of the world and preach the gospel, plus, I don't want people to go to hell, therefore, I will tell people about Jesus.

Question, Was Jesus wrong for saying that all other religions lead to hell and that He is the ONLY way to the Father?

False Profit$ predict certain days of Rapture. Harold Camping predicted on May 25 the world will end and Christans will be raptured. Since Harold is still here his next day of rapture is Oct 25, 1011. There were big billboard signs nearby, and they are no longer there. I am glad Coldplay did no get raptured.

Jesus was a Communist!:P

In Capitalism, those who control the capital (and now capitol) control the wealth, and continue to squeeze out anyone else, by any means at their disposal (corporate America's general policy). Greed rules in capitalism, and controlling markets by any means is the behavior held most high in this system. The harder the workers work the less time and energy they have, and the more the greedy have time to coordinate efforts to trick workers out of benefits and plan ways to further enslave them, like what the Pharaoh did to the Israelites in Egypt. Wages stagnate, workers are more productive but the largess goes to the wealthy at the top, who then buy their Senators, get the rules bent further in their favor, and enslave the workers even more in the modern debtor's prison called the wall-street "banking system" visa vi credit card debts. Jesus didn't spend his time healing the sick millionaires or feeding the investor class in his day - he spent his time among the poor, disdaining the monetary system of his day. He gave freely to others without hesitation and without asking for money.

True Communism, in principle, has never been applied but merely used as a ruse to capture the hearts and minds of citizens by dictators. So I wonder if that is the case, has it ever been given a true test? Are there not shared benefits and other ways of motivating fairly without money and greed as the ultimate? Many motivators besides money, and if money is one of these motivators, then shouldn't there be a government that upholds principles of fairness, so that checks and balances are in place to keep the market system fair? Communes exist even today where collective efforts produce goods and services that are then entered into the market place - one can have both. And if for instance given the imperfections of any system, is it not just to have a social safety net, so that no man, woman or child who falls on hard times isn't afforded good care in terms of health and basic needs? Would Jesus have abandoned the sick, the poor, the mentally handicapped if the economy suddenly took a downturn? Didn't Jesus turn the table of the money lenders over in the temple? Are we not at a similar stage globally, where the governments have become corrupted as places where the money lenders and powerful have taken away the government's true function as arbiter of fair play and upholder of truth, justice, and promoter of the general welfare? What would Jesus say about this?

Do you also believe that there really was a talking snake, a man who could split a sea in two, and also the existence of unicorns, giants and fauns/satyrs? because all of those are brought up in the bible.

Also I think it's not fair and/or ridiculous that if you are only follower of Jesus you are rewarded to go to heaven, especially since religions are based on your location and culture. So for example I'm sure if you grew up in the Middle East or Asia I'm sure you'd believe in something else and have just as strong convictions.

But if you want to believe that, that's fine.

Gotta wonder about someone named Frodo Baggins.. apparently he's been affected by the ring too much, loosing sight of middle earth and middle ground.

I have to say that yes, there are examples of ethical corporations, but unfortunately they are less competitive on the uneven and unfair playing field of the modern marketplace. Most good companies are either worker owned, or owned by a family that cares about it's employees like family. Some have a specific charter which guides them, and keeps them on the up and up regarding ethical practices.

But without an honest referee, that being honest representative government, the worse corporations and corporate behaviors often rise to the top. And without all the good things government offers to the commons (like good roads, snow plowing, emergency services, safety nets), the market system would have a difficult time functioning.

I have to wonder as well about the wisdom of publicly trading company ownership. Under such a system, companies may loose focus on their mission, have their employees demoralized by constant mergers and acquisitions, and be paralyzed to make better long-term plans by the constant demand for greater quarter profits.

Some have suggested that the whole system is in essence flawed, a self-destruct mode built into our civilization, and we are doomed by this run-away machine we have devised.

But nothing says we must stay the course when the course is way off trajectory - perhaps a point of realization will arrive before the point of no-return, and allow us to right the ship before it tips over completely. I'd rather put my faith in reason and compassion towards humanity and the ecosphere, than just believe in some promised land after I'm dead - if we are here for a purpose, in that purpose is to keep this planet the living Eden that it is, and improve our wellness within it.

The Snake was possessed by the devil. Yes the devil can speak. When a person is possessed, demons speak out of them as well. Have you ever witnessed an exorcism? Look up Bob Larson on Google video and watch his exorcisms. Demons speak out of those people. Moses didn't split the sea in two, God did. Yes I believe that there were Giants. Goliath was 9 feet tall. It's really not that hard to believe. The modern world's record is 8ft 8 in., which is not much shorter than Goliath.

Actually, Christianity ISN'T from my location or culture. It IS middleeastern. It came out of Judaism, in Israel. Jesus was a Jew.

But if you want to believe that, that's fine.

Thanks. I do believe it because I know God. He speaks to me and guides my life. My boldness is the direct result of the reality of His presence in my life.

My response is in bold above.

Well Frodo, in regard to his question about "location and culture", I don't think that's a complete response. I asked a similar question in your other thread and you didn't answer, and I have to wonder why. This was my question:

So then what would happen to the people in the jungle I mention in my example? Is that saying they would go to hell because there weren't any Christians that were able to travel far enough into the depths of the jungle to access those people to preach the gospel? Or does that last reference 2Pe 3:9 ¶ provide that the tribe people won't go to hell? I guess I'm a little unsure how to interpret that last part.

Here is the post in which this question arose from your comment: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4575731#post4575731

I look forward to your response.

Also, you didn't say if you really believe in unicorns.

For the record, a snake doesn't have the physical capability to speak in human language, no vocal cords etc. ... the devil would be stupid to possess a snake if he wants to deliver his message to humans.

Frodo, I think you need to go to an FM419 conference. You don't seem to understand how incorrectly you go about this.

First of all, that's the very reason that Jesus Christ commands all Christians to go into all of the world and preach the gospel. If there were any other way for men to be saved, I doubt that there would be a need to do that. The bible says that those who have Christ are saved and that those who do not have Christ are damned. The bible also says that if you truly seek the truth about God from your heart, you will find it. Basically, the only way for men to be saved is through Jesus Christ. I believe that God does send missionaries to these areas in which you are referring. I used to watch a show called Mark and Ollie where these Americans would travel to these remote areas in the jungle and live with these people. Through the course of the show, they explained how missionaries had been in their village explaining the gospel to them. I trust God and that He has a plan to reach all men no matter where they are with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

2Pe 3:9 ¶ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

This verse simply proclaims that God is not willing that any should perish (go to hell), but that all should come to Repentence (salvation through Jesus Christ). This verse is saying that God is willing that ALL men would repent and turn to Christ for salvation. If there were any other way to be saved, then Jesus Christ wouldn't have had to come down to this earth, suffer and die for the sins of mankind.

Also, you didn't say if you really believe in unicorns.

For the record, a snake doesn't have the physical capability to speak in human language, no vocal cords etc. ... the devil would be stupid to possess a snake if he wants to deliver his message to humans.

Well, after the snake told Eve to eat the fruit of knowledge or whatever he was cursed, so maybe he did before and not now

Tlaloc>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Zeus>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jesus

If I were a snake I'd be angry if someone rejected the milions of years of evolution to get to my current sate and called it God's will. But then if I were a snake I'd be gross and all girls would run away from me, so let's leave it as it is now.

It's a good philosophy, Jesus is the compassionate man of the poor and the oppressed, the righteous hero against corruption, the teacher of fairness and righteousness to those willing to listen, the selfless giver for humanity's sake. He gave hope to people in need, a better way for those in the region who were oppressed by insensitive cultural practices & corrupted officials.

While the supernatural stuff is fun from a fictional standpoint, but for real it's not. There is no heaven; only sky above, earth below. But what we make of our lives, how we treat one-another, that's what matters. As was meant originally, the kingdom come was meant to be a real kingdom, a restoration of Judea, a return to what was seen as right in the ancient world. So I see a higher purpose in restoring justice, compassion, fairness to the societies in which we live. To encourage progress, one must first start with equity.

Deviating from the better angels of our nature, yes, we should at times when appropriate reflect and return to terra firma, to be genuine and show true compassion. But there are many religions in which this is part of the belief system. Seek truth, the truth shall set you free.
