I think I've never watched this, despite being a huge fan of their Glasto performances. The four of them are amazingly good.

 

I do like songs like Spies, Murder and Only Superstitions. I hope we more stuff like this in the new album.

today seems to be the "spies" day! it came up on my ipod while walking to class, i talked about it in another thread, and i saw this AMAZING performance of it for the first time.

Maybe we should rename 24 March (recurring) Spies Day :wink3:

That was certainly one of them though.

I always feel like Chris' voice was so much better then - and up until AROBTTH I guess.

 

I know people will go on about how much more vocal training he's had since then and all that stuff - yes, I can tell the difference I'm a musican.....- but the amount of 'sqealing' falsetto (as opposed to 'non-sqealiing' haha) and generally higher pitched vocals in the more recent stuff is sickening as times. The B-side - "The World Turned Upside Down" has some horrid moments for example....yikes.

 

I guess he's older now and his voice will have changed a little bit but the overall tone has seriously changed and I think it's for the worse - personally.

 

Thom yorke is probably my favorite male singer (for many great reasons that I wont go into now) and he never seems to grate on me - whereas chris' voice has more recently. It could be down to the songs too - as I think some of their last offerings were drivel - unfortunately..

i love the song proof, but chris's voice really can get to you in that one, even i'll admit that. i just like that one musically quite a bit.

The only compliment I can give proof is that, despite being somewhat repetitive, is that the piano is alright(I even learned it) and I like the tone of the electric chords that come in after the first chorus, and maybe the simple little outro . but vocally it's like a fix you that stops before the electric comes in.

That's a toughy. I'm ruling out yellow because whe it's played live, the high notes can get squeaky and it's a little irritating. Spies and Trouble were always really good, the high notes in those songs are perfect for him and they sound great overall.

 

In other albums I love the outro he throws in, it's something like "oh my lovvvve, you-ooooo ahhrrreeee... yoooo-hooo ahhhhrrrreeee!!!"

 

Amsterdam is also a good one. It's tough vocally, but he always does a good job.

 

For X&Y, vocal melodies become more difficult, but he rarely hits it them all. Square one is almost always a mess live with the exception of jools holland where's he at the piano the whole time. In the chorus of white shadows he changes it from the album version and shoots too high. fix you is often too much to handle...but talk and SOS are actually not too bad.
