Well, I made this thread to this gorgeous song, here you can post everything about it, it's like the official coldplaying white shadows thread :P, it's not my fav song, but it is one of them, if you are willing to discuss anything, don't doubt it.

I'm going to give you a quick review of this song:

This song can cheer you up, a nice guitar riff, sticky and brilliant (who cares if it is easy to play?), nice bass and battery, with all those organs it sounds great, and Chris's voice, it's just gorgeous on this song, it is hard to sing with those high notes but I think it is better than other tracks on X&Y, he doesn't sound very "poppy". And the lyrics, well I seriously don't get it, but there are some gorgeous lines and most of the lyrics make you travel.

Well, my favourite thing about this song.

the end part where chris sings "Swimming on a sea of faces" etc.

 

the only thing I positivly HATE about this song, is when chris sings it live and totally ruins it by singing the chorus in falsetto, it sounds beter like he did it on the record, in a lower octave. I also hate how at the end of square one, he plays it on piano and not on acoustic.

The only time I've ever seen chris play it acoustic at the end id on the MTV gig release gig, and that was before it was out in stores.

My favorite thing about White Shadows live is when he and Jonny lie down at the end of the song. Way too cute.

So true. It holds the song together for me I think. Its like the foundation of the song and everything is based upon it.

Best part with the best bass & guitar line:

And the bass and guitar palm muted part in the verses are very nice!

The synth/organ at the very end sounds a bit like the melody of "And I......" at the end of Fix You. Anyone else notice that or is it just me?

The guitar line in the verse.

 

You hear not only bass.

But the guitar is playing the same line too. Jonny mute it with is handpalm(or how it is called in English :P) to get it more softer and dead sounding.;)

Quite a good song but dosent beat the goldie oldies from Coldplay. But probaly the best track on X and Y along with Talk

Yea it is the same organ sound as used on Fix you. Think sort of two organ sounds are used one if the more sort of funeral organ at the start then a stronger pipe organ sound when the riff comes in and the chord are held.

Do like the way White shadows ends withe the organ and it goes straight into Fix you thought it was pretty cool, but then im sad :rolleyes:

My favorite Coldplay song for sure, possibly also my favorite song in existence. And I guess this thread means I'm not (completely) nuts. :D

 

Not sure how to explain it...every detail of this song is just amazing. And it does have a surprising amount of detail if you listen for it.
