You got mugged?

Man, the society we live in today is awful.

Did you manage to hold onto anything like a phone or something or did they take it all?

You got packed into a mug? Dear Lord that's terrible.

Mugging huh? Unfortunately I've been there. I'm just luckily I wasn't alone, and that I personally wasn't mugged.

I remember me and 3 of my friends were walking through a park in Bromley. We made the mistake of walking down a fairly hidden path next to a lake and were subsequently followed by a tall mixed raced guy with black leather gloves. Basically We heard him shouting in the distance behind us, and one of my friends started sprinting. The rest of us were confused and we turned around to see this tall guy with gloves sprint after him. We run after them wondering what the hell was happening and when we got to a clearing, my friend was emptying his pockets. We kept our distance and co operated, knowing that he could very well have been armed.

The strange thing was that when we approached them the mugger turned to us and started saying "you havn't called the cops have you?" Of course the answer was a resounding "No, of course not" to which he asked the same question 3 more times before being satisfied. He then took £25 of my friends money... but get this. Before he sprinted off again he said "actually I only need the £20" and subsequently gave a £5 note back to my friend. He warned us not to call the police once more, and then he was off.

The scary thing is that one of my friends says he's seen the very same mugger around Bromley at bustops and stuff at least 3 times since the incident, one of the times he was laughing and smiling with another passenger. Luckily the mugger didn't recognise my friend but I think he said they made eye contact on several occasions. Just goes to show that you don't have to look or act a perticular way to be a criminal, and thats quite a scary thought I think.

Needless to say we've stayed well away from that part of the park since.

If anything... at least our criminals aren't being unreasonable these days

Haha, you could say that. What kind of mugger actually gives back the money he's just stolen?

haha I know right! now THAT is rediculous.

maybe he was going for some kind of cool bandit name like...

"The Charitable Bandit"

I don't know why I posted this, I don't even remember doing it, it isn't exactly a happy thing to be blurting out on a messageboard.

Yes I'm fine, spent most of night and A&E, just bruised though. Managed to hold on to my phone, took everything else though,

I'm going to change this to something altogether more chipper though I think.

i missed something as well. is "giving out free sweets" a british way of saying "mugged"? i've never heard it before.

i almost got mugged on albert dock in liverpool when i was with a friend, but the guy was trying to get us was doing it in broad daylight in a huge crowd, so my friend and i just slipped into the crowd and ran the other way. basically he asked us if he could borrow some money and we said we didn't have any to give, and he said that was OK because he was going to take it. and we bolted.

two nights ago when i was watching across the universe, i noticed that when jude is on albert dock towards the end, that's pretty much precisely the place that it happened. i didn't notice it the first time i saw it!

No, I just decided it was too glum a thread so I made it nicer.

Oh, I was wondering where the mugging thread went :laugh1:

My story was rather depressing, so I might delete it.

Haha, ok. I sometimes do the same thing here, mainly in the form of whining about LP4 related delays and stuff :P not like they're real woes, but still.

There's still plenty of M&Ms to go around!
