Ever since news of this new album, it seems coldplay have become obsessed with this number.

 

- a track they named, which is supposedly their favourite, is '42'

- they included the number on their charity plate

- if there ARE nine tracks on Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, the total number of tracks included on the four albums will be 42. (Parachutes: 10; AROBTTH: 11; X&Y: 12 (excluding Til Kingdom Come); VLVODAAHF: 9)

 

Anyone else notice it?

 

Or come across any other uses of the number?

Wow! I never realized that they added up to 42, guess there's a good chance that 42 might be the last track on the album.

 

It's also supposed that there were 42 songs that didn't make the cut for X&Y...or something like that.

I don't know, I never bought into the numbers logic. I once read a site that made the case that George W. Bush is the antichrist because the letters of his name in Hebrew added up to 666 or something of the sort.

 

Maybe when we hear the song 42 it will clear up some of the mystery.

On June 17th ( the day the album comes out) I turn 42....and I didn't realize it till I read THIS post. No lie.

42 is a 3-part song, apparently, and the 3 parts COULD be Life, The Universe and Everything (as was pointed out in the hitch-hiker's reference.) Also, just to be silly, I'm a HUGE X Files fan, and I heard a rumour_just a rumour_that Coldplay might have a song on the X Files movie soundtrack. And do you know what Mulder's apartment number was on the series???
