May 19, 200818 yr Deluxe Edition? dont think so. Check out: The Black Angels - Directions to see a ghost Great album!!
May 19, 200818 yr M83 - Saturdays = youth Sam Amidon - All is well Electric president - Sleep well Rickolus - Winters daughter Those are on my top list so far at least.
May 19, 200818 yr I really liked the MGMT album, "Oracular Spectacular" and I've just picked up Hot Chip "Made in the Dark", which is pretty cool too. But my undoubted fave this year has to be the Vampire Weekend album. It's probably the best debut album I've ever heard.
May 25, 200818 yr I've listened to this one two or three times and still don't "get" it. I don't know, its weird because I really like the songs on their Sticking Fingers In Sockets EP. I have not listened to the EP so I can't really make comparisons. As for their debut, I just think it's an album full of catchy and addictive pop/rock songs with good songwriting. The band does a good job of hitting peaks in songs, etc. I think the album is great to listen to during mornings.
May 25, 200818 yr I'm really loving the new albums from The Pineapple Thief, No-Man, and nosound. All three released the best album of their career this year.
May 25, 200818 yr Ok, I know the whole retro soul thing isn't to everyone's taste around here, but I'm really REALLY loving Duffy's album Rockferry. Once again, like the Last Shadow Puppets, this is the sort of music I've been whining for years that no one makes anymore. And now they are, and I'm happy. :D
May 25, 200818 yr In no order yet Smashing Pumpkins - American Gothic [EP] R.E.M. - Accelerate Elbow - Seldom Seen Kid The Dodos - Visiter The Virginia EP - The National And of course VIVA LA VIDA so far.... The single Viva La Vida is already one of my favorite Coldplay songs ever.... Cant wait for the whole experience and A Spell, A Rebel Yell is WAY under rated.
May 25, 200818 yr I really liked the MGMT album, "Oracular Spectacular" I thought this was released in late 2007, whatever... Its awesome too!
May 25, 200818 yr Sigur Ros - Viđ spilum endalaust (I´m not sure if it´s a correct album name) You've heard it already??
May 25, 200818 yr the coldplay one is gunna be the album this year. every song we've heard has been awesome.
May 25, 200818 yr It will have to be something special to fight it's way to number 1 where there is a 2-way tie for me between Bon Iver's album and Elbow's 4th album.
May 25, 200818 yr Good :) It's the number 1 album on metacritic for 2008 at the moment with a score of 89/100, always a good sign
May 25, 200818 yr Wow wow. THAT's amazing. It still gives me hope that there's quality music around, and not only image and style and "news". :dozey:
May 25, 200818 yr There is some quality music around, it's just a matter of getting off the mainstream motorway and onto the back roads.
May 25, 200818 yr Exactly. Mainstream's just offering instant bands and singers, who don't really know how to sing. Sad, but true. So, there's a Slovene singer/songwriter, Vlado Kreslin, who has released his record, called Cesta (Road in English). I know that nobody here has heard of him yet and wouldn't understand him anyway, but he's awesome. Popular in Slovenia, but he does nothing to increase his popularity, apart from singing and performing live. I love his cover of My Way and Sitting On Top Of The World. All tourists should go to one of his concerts while they're in Slovenia, he's great. :D
May 25, 200818 yr It will have to be something special to fight it's way to number 1 where there is a 2-way tie for me between Bon Iver's album and Elbow's 4th album. You might also like April by Sun Kil Moon? Similar in sound and feel to Bon Ivers "wintery" mood....
