Listening, Liking.....maybe I'll buy it eventually. I really like to support Canadian bands.

They're really good. They remind me of a more mellow version of the Arctic Monkeys. Maybe they only have my favorite album this year because I've met them and seen them live, but it certainly is a magnificant album.

Hot Hot Heat- Happiness Ltd

one of the best bands to come out of canada in recent years

Dunno if anyone's posted this yet, but Cut Copy's CD "In Ghost Colours" is freaking awesome. :)

WE ARE SCIENTISTS - Brain Thrust Mastery

Yeah I find seeing a band live (well if they are any good) really helps you love a band.

I'm hoping to go see Plants and Animals here in May. I hear they put on a good live show and their latest album Parc Avenue is awesome.

ive still not got around to listening to them

reccomend a song?

¡Forward, Russia! - Life Processes.

Album of the year.

Quoted for when the end of year lists come around ;)

The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age Of The Understatement

Damn. I'm really surprised by this album.

It felt like a punch in the face hearing this for the first time.

Really blows Arctic Monkeys right out of the water.

There, I said it. Alex Turner has really outdone himself here. Genius.

I'm waiting for Coldplay's new album, obviously. Also, Oasis and I heard rumors about Green Day starting up a new album.

However, U2's back in the studio! Gotta love Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton & Larry Mullen Jr. for still rocking after all these years.

^Some people are good at talking about albums that have not been released when its pretty obvious this thread is to talk about albums that have been released already in 2008 and are worth hearing.

Well they're just saying they'll be good albums, although I do agree, this thread, as stated in the title, should be reserved for albums already released.

How do they know those albums will be good? They might suck! :P

Valid point, but chances are, they'll be pretty good.

Well out of the albums I have heard so far that have been released this year, I really liked:

The Young Knives - Superabundance (so underrated, it's criminal)

Foals - Antidotes

Also the new Supergrass album is not bad either.

Really looking forward to hearing: The Last Shadow Puppets, The Futureheads, Franz Ferdinand's and Coldplay's one.

Very impressed with The Raconteurs new one, far more consistent than the last. Wouldn't put it up there with others yet though, mainly as I haven't had time to listen enough.

Foals - Antidotes

British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music?

Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid

Guillemots - Red

They're my best so far.

I have both Elbow and Guillemot's albums on my computer but have yet to listen to them.

Guillemots is a lot more accessible, but as always with Elbow records, a few listens and the songs will probably make a greater impression upon you - Guy Garvey's lyrics are fantastic.

I need to find Red somewhere ... perhaps I'll like it! :)

ive still not got around to listening to them

reccomend a song?

Here's a few:

Breaking Standing

A Shadow Is A Shadow Is A Shadow

A Prospector Can Dream

Fifteen Part 1

Seventeen

Twelve

Can't go wrong with those.

This is going to sound disgusting, I know, but Panic at the Disco's new album was shocking. I generally hate most of the poppy-emo culture they're now a piece of, but their second album was the biggest change of a band I've ever heard. It was folk-y, psychedelic, gorgeous songs and insanely fun, upbeat rocking tunes. It's like a modern-day Sgt. Pepper. It's called Pretty. Odd., and I know it just sounds lame - I mean, come on, Panic at the Disco? But it's excellent, my favorite of the year so far.

The Verve's 'Urban Hymns' was re-released in 2008 I think, check that out ;)
