Garreth is soooo right about Limewire, lol. I just put it back on the computer so I can scour the net for leaks just like you guys, but I'm VERY careful what I download or open...a little common sense goes a long way. If you see a file called Violet Hill, but it's only a couple of KB, you know it's a face, and as far as any .zip files, don't even go there unless you can scan them...and even then...

And if you see that an audio file says something like violethill.mp3.exe...DON'T GO THERE! (I learned that the hard way several months ago during my last limewire fuck-up.)

There's so many junk on Limewire. There are even already remixes of Violet Hill :P

Remixes, radio edits, reggae mixes,lol...gotta love limewire.

I'm not sure exactly how this works, so maybe a tekkie can explain better, but porn sites have a sort of name generator that will spit out anything you type in. (Has anyone else seen 'violet hill cute girl gives bl**job' yer?) And there are plenty of dinks online who will use fandoms to spread viruses to innocent strangers too. You can't be too careful.

So, when you search on LimeWire, LimeWire sends out a multicast message to an ip address that all the other LimeWire clients are listening to. As long as you know what ip address to listen to (it's hardcoded in the source code of LimeWire, and it's open source so anyone can have a look) you can also receive these query messages. So basically, these are programs that listen to the network for query messages, get the search query string, rename some porn filename to include this string, and send a message back saying, yep, look at me, i've got this file.

That's it in a nutshell.

some files i have seen are only .mp3 one i remember was 3.4 megabytes and 3.56 time length, but there werent enough sources to download, im wondering if that was the real deal

I've seen a few the right size too...but as you say, they never download...need more sources.

Thanks SamH. I could never have summed it up that accurately.

guys, only are 1 or 2 weeks so be patience :) .

this files in around 99% are fakes, virus, trojans, etc...

downloaded it off limewire.. its a trojan, any security suite will pick it up its probably not a big deal if you have already tried to listen to it.

i don't know where to post this so i'll do it here. last night i had a dream that they were showing off the album in a live performance on tv, and i was really excited to watch it. but i didn't know what channel it was on so i missed it. :uhoh:

thank goodness it was just a dream :wacky:

^I would probably classify that as a nightmare, haha.

Because that WOULD be a nightmare if I happened to miss something big like that.
