April 23, 200818 yr okay, just wanna ask a quick question.. What's the difference between a B-side and an A-side? (Or a double A side?) many thanks =)
April 23, 200818 yr very excited! the first b-side off the new album!!!! hopefully someone will be able to rip it for us non-vinyl users!
April 23, 200818 yr Bascially B-sides are songs which were in contention for the album but in the end didnt make the cut for the final album and A sides is songs which did. I think double a side might be the singles from the album, I dont really know anout that?
April 23, 200818 yr The BBC news story says this is a double A-Side, and with both titles appearing on the cover it looks like a double a-side. I think that means that its just a B-Side which the band rates really highly, too high to just be stuck on the back of another single. If that makes any sense!
April 23, 200818 yr ^So what your trying to say is A Spell A Rebel Yell is an amazing track. Man, I cant wait to hear it. Thanks
April 23, 200818 yr Or maybe A Spell A Rebel Yell is the same song as The Escapist. Otherwise, we got anoter new song! We now have 23 songs we haven't heard :P
April 23, 200818 yr ^ Did they charge you a stupid amount for postage? they wanted me to pay 5.17 GBP for delivery to the UK!! I'll just walk down the road to Spar i think :) Yes they charged 5.17 GBP for delivery, but I live in Holland :), but I love the exchange rate:P just about 11 euros in grand total
April 23, 200818 yr Thanks Ravrat and Jpw48 =) I'm a little puzzled.. Does this mean that 'Violet Hill' will still be released online in three weeks?
April 23, 200818 yr Ah good point. Number 1 perhaps? That'd be amazing. Chances of the happening are slim to none. That kind of music rarely goes to number one over here. Chances are lessened considerably by them only releasing it to radio a short time before it's released, it being released as a download only and it being given away free .

If its given away free then it won't be chart elligible. :( But in the grand scheme of things, the amount of people who have working vinyl players is going to be pretty low, so most people would still pay to download the tracks, I know I will, even with the vinyl. I don't think this will affect its chart position, and if anything it will draw extra publicity towards the track and the album, which can only be a good thing :D ^So what your trying to say is A Spell A Rebel Yell is an amazing track. They promoted the crap out of Speed of Sound and it was beaten by a talking frog. Look at the Shit Shaddow Puppets, they practically sold their bodies for that song, it's bloody everywhere, and it reached number 9
April 23, 200818 yr It won't go to number one, I'd put all my money on that. They promoted the crap out of Speed of Sound and it was beaten by a talking frog. hahaha, i forgot about Crazy Frog! Drrrrmm drrrm drrrrrmmm drrm, Drrrrmm drrrm drrrrrmmm drrm.... Yeah, shame about that really. Speed of Sound was a number 2 wasn't it? Maybe if Violet Hill doesn't do it the second single, which looks like it'll be 42 will do it instead, if thats released before the album. Its very rare that singles released after an album comes out get that high in the charts, unless the b-sides are really strong or its been downloaded loads. If they're gunna get a number one, it'll be with 42, if that is also released when its rumoured to be! Actually, I'm really surprised Age of the Understatement didn't go top 3. Its not the worst song in the charts at the moment! *cough* Madonna *end cough*
April 23, 200818 yr Maybe a DQ, but is NME usually available in the states or do I have to drop $10 on shipping?!

April 23, 200818 yr Aye, who cares though. I rarely rate the songs that top our charts. That Madonna one is pants. So would prefer it if they didn't :P
April 23, 200818 yr Author the reason they're not releasing it on CD yet is because they want the single to do well. ????
April 23, 200818 yr Thanks Ravrat and Jpw48 =) I'm a little puzzled.. Does this mean that 'Violet Hill' will still be released online in three weeks? I think so yeah, but NME will give lucky fans a earlier helping for them! So if you want to hear tune in to some German radio and pre-order NMEs May 7th issue..NOW!!!
April 23, 200818 yr Uchiha_Shadow, I don't think Violet Hill will ever see a release on CD. From what various websites have said it'll be download only, with this special promotional vinyl being thrown in with NME for extra publicity and a bit of clever marketing for NME. Thinking about it, it'd be a much better thing if Coldplay weren't stuck between Madonna and T-Pain (or worse still Soulja Boy) in the charts. They don't need to have a number one for us to love the track
April 23, 200818 yr But I soooooooooo badly want them to have a number 1! Id even buy 10 singles!!!! So it can join the elusive ranks of... Basshunter with Now Your Gone Duffy with Mercy Estelle with American Boy and Madonna with 4 Minutes?
April 23, 200818 yr ^ exactly. Number 1 singles mean nothing to me and they shouldn't to any band, really - especially Coldplay. They have so much fame that they just need concentrate on writing music that they feel like.....the rest is all horseshit. Radiohead being the main, major comparison. They do as they wish - and listeners decide. Luckily, they make great music....:)
April 23, 200818 yr So it can join the elusive ranks of... Basshunter with Now Your Gone Duffy with Mercy Estelle with American Boy and Madonna with 4 Minutes? I love Basshunter. They are great, but I dont like the english version. The Swedish is sooo much better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX79tgB2PVk But the other songs are crap, I know.
April 23, 200818 yr Maybe a DQ, but is NME usually available in the states or do I have to drop $10 on shipping?! NME is available in the states in any good book store or local record shop. Pretty sure it's available at Barnes and Noble and Borders. Crap! now i'm gonna have to find a record player!! I might have to dig up my parents old one. While I'm at it I'll play some Beatles and Clapton and Boston and Queen on it :D It makes sense that they release it on vinyl. With that whole quote last year about the single vinyl release and listening to songs on vinyl being a)better and b)much better.
