Opinions about Coldplay that people will most likely disagree with

Featured Replies

- Shiver is their most raw, and hence one of their strongest songs to date.
I couldn't agree more. Chris' vocal sounds more sincere than it does in any of the band's other songs, and I believe that it's better than anything they did on A Rush of Blood to the Head.

That's my first non-popular opinion. ("Shiver" > anything on ARoBttH)

Others:

"In My Place" shouldn't come after "Politik" on that album; it ruins the dark mood.

"Green Eyes" is the best song from that album.

"Moses" is boring. (The song, not the kid)

"Easy To Please" is fascinating.

"Speed Of Sound" is better than "Clocks", regardless of the fact that the piano riffs are based on virtually the same chord sequence.

Coldplay should try out some weird time signatures. (But according to what Prospekt said about Eno, this may happen on the new album anyway)

Here are mine!

X&Y, What If and How You See the World sound the same.

Fix You is a very annoying song. *hides behind sofa* But it's probably cuz it's so commercial and overplayed on the radio!

ps, Rudy, High Speed is an AMAZING SONG!!! And so is A Whisper. The worst song on Parachutes is Sparks, and the most boringest one from AROBTTH is Daylight, hands down.

Ladder to the Sun should've replaced Warning Sign on AROBTTH. :D

- Swallowed in the Sea is definitely awesome, I totally agree.

- AROBTTH is their best, while Parachutes and X&Y usually tie 2nd, but I would put Parachutes before X&Y because I like the atmosphere on that album more, and its lyrically superior.

- I disagree with the In My Place comment.

Ok, here are mine:

- The ending of Ode to Deodorant is arguably one of the most exillerating Coldplay moments out of all their songs.

- Shiver is their most raw, and hence one of their strongest songs to date.

- VLVOD is almost certainly going to be better than X&Y.

- Square One is their best opener on an album.

- Amsterdam is their best closer on an album.

- 1.36 is actually a good song.

- The Hardest Part was a poor choice for a single.

- A Crest Of Waves and I Ran Away should have been on AROBTTH, somehow.

Here's my opinion:

-All of Ode to Deodorant stinks (get it?)

-Shiver is the most raw and one of the strongest

-I dont think Viva La Vida could possibly be a weaker album, Coldplay have gotten better album by album

-Square One is the worst of the three (other two tied)

-Wrong! Life is for Living is by far the best closing track EVER!!

-1.36 is a pretty good song

-Hardest Part was a good single, weird but good music video

-Both songs would be better than A Whisper, but the album is great the way ti is.

My fake opinions (I dont agree with these):

-Coldplay are too soft

-Jonny Buckland isn't a great guitarist

I sort of feel bad for betraying my favourite song as not being the best opener :bigcry: I loves Don't Panic muchly butbutbut.... :bigcry:

Let's start a thread consisting of opinions we have that probably won't be shared with others around here. I'll start!

  • When it comes to ranking their albums, Parachutes and X&Y are tied for the best, while Rush of Blood is in a distant third/second.

  • Swallowed in the Sea is an awesome song, both musically and lyrically.

  • In My Place isn't very good unless sung live, with an entire crowd providing backing vocals.

the sentimentantality better be cut down on this new album cause sentimental love lame lyrics are already coldplays biggest problem.

I don't have many disagreeable opinions...the only thing I can think of is:

"'Easy to Please' is a one-of-a-kind, brilliant song."

Noone ever agrees with my opinions, so this should be easy.

- "Green Eyes" isn't that great and fits in weirdly on AROBTTH; "I Ran Away" works much better.

- The studio version of "Shiver" is just awful, though I'm not sure why.

- "Parachutes" is one of their best songs, as is "A Whisper."

- "God Put A Smile..." has pretty much nothing to do with God.

- Coldplay sometimes makes the annoying mistake of writing a great song, then putting something really annoying at the end that ruins the effect somewhat ("Low", "Warning Sign").
