because actually, i DO think it's good. and i don't think all of its fans have to come to some realization that fix you is a bad song just because you don't like it. and again i wasn't insulting anyones diction because they state things as facts... i was just saying it's not a FACT that fix you is a bad song because all music is up for personal interpretation so that means everyone has a different take on it. and finally, i don't know where 'screaming' or 'barging in' is implented in my post. i have the right to say what i feel justtt like you do.

I like Fix You too. Not the very first time I heard it though. But when I first listened to it properly I thought it was very sweet. It is great for when you are feeling sad. I like to play it on piano and sing it.

I just get peeved at people who come running in screaming "NOO you can't say thaaat, no wayyyy" like you did (which was one of my ORIGINAL points anyway :rolleyes:), so mah apulugies if my response offended you or anything, but my post remains unchanged

Good point. And he wrote it for her after her Father died for God's sake! Sure it's going to be sentimental. I just wrote a song for my ex's Father who just passed away, and it's about the most sappy thing I've ever written,lol. How can you help it?

 

I wish Shiver had been our first single...it's a far better song then Yellow, imo. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not slagging Yellow.)

Speed of Sound (I loved it but it's the least impressive of the four to me)

I loved speed of sound at the time, probably just because it was new coldplay, as it has done nothing for me since and ^^ nowadays I'll skip through it on X&Y to get to 'A Message'. Violet Hill could be on a par with Speed of Sound. IMO and I STRESS IMO, the sone is a bit too cliche for me "if you love me won't you let me know" which doesn't do great things for my opinion that lyrically coldplay are one of, if not the best mainstream groups.

 

Its tough to gauge first singles though because at the time of speed of sound it was great and got big radio play for example yet in hindsight I and I guess many others consider it to be one of the 'lesser' tracks off X&Y.

So do we dare judge VH now????????

haha ok but still... i wasn't running in and screaming anything. all i was saying is that just because you don't like fix you it doesnt mean its a bad song. that's it.

and i agree with one of the previous posters that at this time it is too early to completely answer this question. i think with speed of sound so many people were just so excited to have new coldplay that they fell in love with it and i think that may be what i myself am doing with violet hill. i will not be surprised if after the ENTIRE album comes out i look back and say... what the hell was i on? :thinking:

i'll not say any are weakest singles but in X&Y

when i listened to fix you at that time i was too depressed and thought it is just healing me in many ways and also Chris' voice.

 

but chris took the inspiration behind it from some muse and elbow songs.

 

and its organ led so unable to gain access he recorded on piano which was given by gwyneth's father that's it.

 

i don't get any thing furthur stretching in this to see or even if one day my father gives me a piano and some of my closest friends records something on it,i don't think that it was just written for me as all the other people think that it was about gwyneth paltrow.

Don't Panic should have been an earlier single, not the last one, Politik... not sure on that one. But something shoulda replaced Hardest Part in my opinion. Nobody warmed up to it. Replace it with something like Twisted Logic or Square One, and it woulda been better.
