TraceOddity
(I'll applogize in adavnce because this post will probably offend some people.) I've seen a lot of 'Coldplay better play venue X, release song X, release DVD X or I'll be disappointed..' posts lately and I just want to say that they're really not fair. I'm not knocking the people who have made these posts personally, and I understand as a fan what it's like to want EVERYTHING a band records to be made available, but, as I've said before, let's be fair! As most of you already know, I'm a musician. I want the world to hear and enjoy my music, I want everyone to have my songs in their heads, I want my rarities to become collector's item one day...BUT I DON'T want the music I think is second rate to EVER be heard. I DON'T want things I've tried to keep private to come out on the 'net, and no band can play EVERY city on EVERY tour. Coldplay DAMN WELL BETTER do what makes them feel good as artists, because as I've said in other threads, they're doing this for THEM first, much as they need their fans, and respect them. They don't have to release anything or play anywhere they don't want to! I'm not bitching about people who say these things...not at all, just saying that as a human being who does what they do for a living, the fans aren't entitled to the things a band/artist doesn't want to give up. Let Coldplay be Coldplay and relax, guys.:) They'll only give us their best work, and I for one am grateful for that, rather than have them just churn out a bunch of shite so we can have crap with their name on it. Again, sorry if this offends anyone. I'm not saying not to post about what we want, but that 'they'd better' thing assumes a sense of ownership we simply don't have. Hotplay007
^haha. I agree with Tracie, I think everyone should have respect for the band's decision. I still love and respect them as I always do.

Pseudonym
I completely agree with Tracie. I was also in a band recently, and we recorded some rough drafts of some of our songs, and my singing sounded horrible. Unforunately, my drummer wanted to show everyone the songs, even though I told him to wait until they were re-recorded. He played them for a bunch of people, they all said I sucked at singing because of the crappy quality, and I had to quit the band just because of stuff like that. So please, give Coldplay the privacy they deserve. That's why I never listened to Viva La Vida on youtube, and I didnt watch the leaked Life in Technicolour video. I wanted to, but Coldplay didnt want us to see that material yet (which is why EMI yanked it off all sites) and I respect them enough to wait. ApproximatelyInfinite
i completely agree, tracie :D but i also think that when everyone says those things on the board, it's just kind of like a badly-phrased wish or dream. rather than saying "man, i wish coldplay would play X arena in X town...," people say "coldplay BETTER play X arena in X town or there will be hell to pay." i think people are just trying to make their desire for them to play near them or whatever even stronger-sounding and won't actually break out the pitchforks and torches if they don't play there. i think it's all just hope :)
Uchiha_Shadow
Couldn't agree more, not a big fan of fans who are too... fanatic (yes, managed to put fan in there 3 times) Besides, fans who demand things from their bands aren't real fans anyway. You're supposed to like them for what they chose to do and what they chose to be like, not for what you think they should do or be like.
Pseudonym
Good point, Approximatelyinfinite, but that still doesnt excuse all the song and video leaks. I too have said better instead of I wish/want, but I would never leak any material that they did not want seen yet, espiecally the Life in Technicolour video because it even said it was a "rought draft"
CRYSTAL
i know how nice our favorite band is! who agrees or not i know that. i am happy with that.
Tonsu
This site's for fans to express their point of view on all things Coldplay, so I think you're missing the point somewhat Tracie. And from that perspective, I understand where you're coming from but disagree on almost every single point you make in your original post. To cut a long discussion (that won't have any useful or practical repercussions!) short let's just agree to disagree and unite in our love of Coldplay. Cheers! CRYSTAL
frankly speaking i never used to encounter with such a kind of problems or issues or bashing or slamming for liking coldplay like now i am getting before when i came to this forum. but all this negativity or bashing is really harming the situation here. means the fans who are really liking coldplay are getting on and on slammed just because they like coldplay. whatever it might be a video or mp3 or songs or concerts are what ever. eventhough there seems to be nothing wrong or harm in it. and unnecessarily topics are raising because we like them and we need to give unnecessary explanations to all who don't like this stuff and in this way we're getting fooled by giving them explanations which makes us look stupid and also taking a lot of damn for each and every unrequired things. and getting out moods depressed or spoiled. all this because only liking Coldplay. i don't know why liking some band is wrong in others opinions when they are also equally liking others we're not feeling like complaining but also supporting them. but they're not supporting us but spoiling us. and i observed two or three members while discussing they're saying one thing and we're saying another thing. eventhough we tried to convince them they seemed to be arguing and arguing. even when we asked our friends or family about this they seemed to be ok with what we said. but they're keeping on bashing us and with some not necessarily shouldn't speak brutal language. and we're going helpless. they're sorta terryingfying us. i don't know now who'll support all those people. ok you may think that you've gotten us down and feel great but it may happen to you too one day because everyone are nothing than just humans and have to go with same things like others and you'll get my point that day what i really suffered and that's true. I was expressing my views on all things Coldplay. You're right...that IS the point of this forum. I resent being told I'm 'missing the pint' of a forum I've been a member of for years. I won't argue, but that's a pretty hefty statement for someone's 20th post.;) Ian...best post of the day!:laugh3:

Please don't take my post about your topic too personally, i was just expressing my opinion that you're wrong, without wanting to get into a debate about every single point. It's not really important to me but since you mention it i've been a member here for years, too, despite my lack of posts. And even if I was 'just' a brand new member on my first post I would still speak my mind, because that is the opportunity that life presents us all with. Cheers and peace, and love. Look forward to seeing you around Tracie! P.S. I've just seen that you've edited my quote in your post to include something I never said, could you please change that? Thanks. Fixed
Sorry for bringing the Keane example up again, but the same thing is happening on their forum. People comlaining about some of the updates they give on their website, because they don't find the photos interesting and stuff like that. They don't have to do it, but they do, which is great! I don't understand what some people expect from Coldplay. They're just a band, they're just 4 guys.

Thanks. *raises white flag* I only highlighted the first line of your post...I didn't change it,and I'd be annoyed if someone did that too, unless it was a joke. No offense taken and no offense meant.:) (And yeah, I do see the irony, lol. but it was bothering me and I'd rather get it off my mind in a civil way than snap at another member.) THe trouble with the net is that we can't hear the tone of voice in a post...the comment about your post was not as harsh as it looked in print. I'm actually amazed that so many people did agree, I was afraid this could turn into an argument thread, and I'm glad it hasn't. If we all had the identical point of view, this would be a boring world.:)

Black Rose
You were lucky Coldplay didn't do a Raconteurs and rush-release the album, without much fuss, without the media getting copies of it before hand. Your lucky that the band are posting videos of new songs online, where some bands you will get the lead single, the video for that single, plus b-sides for that single, and nothing else until the day of the release
