Best Coldplay Chorus???

Featured Replies

Okay, I'm not in the slightest bit musical, so excuse me if I don't explain this very well...

I've never really thought of Coldplay in terms of chorus' - 'cos in quite a few of their songs, I don't hear one, just a refrain that you hear several times.

But when I saw the original question in this thread, I started thinking about this a bit more. And my favourite bit of a Coldplay song comes just after the chorus - where Chris changes gear.

Like on Viva La Vida at around 3 minutes when the big "Wooooaaaahs" come in or on Yellow at the end when he sings "It's true... look how they shine for you"

And someone previously mentioned the end of Warning Sign (one of my faves from AROBTTH), where he almost whispers "So I crawl back in to your open arms".

For me, it's what comes just after the chorus that makes Coldplay special!

EDIT: AH! Almost forgot Shiver and Fix You! Fix You is genius and so is the final chorus. And I think Shiver is, vocally, Chris's best.

Shiver and fix you are amazing. When i saw them live i cried when he played fix you...and a message. awww shiver is the most amazing song. :)

The violet hill chorus is awesome too. :)

Fix You of course!;)

I second that. It's so pure and add in all the driving percussion and guitar in the background and a great atmosphere is created- more so than any of there other songs (although The Scientist runs a close second). I really really hope they play Fix You for the Cleveland concert.

My list is kinda long, but they all have amazing parts in the lyrics/parts of the song, not just the chorus...

Shiver

fix you

warning sign

a message

god put a smile on your face

the scientist

the hardest part

talk

swallowed in the sea

how you see the world

no more keeping my feet on the ground

yellow

trouble

what if

violet hill

politik

in my place

sparks

i agree about politik

im not too keen on it up untill 2:55, then its just the most beautiful ending to a song your ever likely to hear.

its a complete contrast to the whole rawness of the song.

truely spine chilling.

I hate to agree with everyone, but Politik is simply mind-numbing...

BUT, After hearing Lovers in Japan, I may have to say that it is near the top when the drums and guitar kick in.

On a separate note, I just got my tickets to Coldplay on July 6 in Cleveland, Ohio and I've been running in circles all day. 4th Row, to the left of the stage in the lower level.

When I went in 2005 I could barely make out their faces, but now I'll be right there! Soo excited.

19 year old men aren't supposed to like bands this much.

Swallowed in the sea, BY FAR.

Then 'A message'

Then 'Twisted Logic'

y'know, X&Y was GREAT for chorus' :laugh3:
