crawlinwithin
You may think I'm crazy, but to me "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" has a definite R&B/Hip-Hop feel to it. The influence of Kanye and Jay-Z on Chris cannot be denied. For instance, "Lost!" has a hip-hop swagger to it with it's steady beat and percussion lines. "Violet Hill" also has that big beat that you can't help but bob your head to, especially during the chorus. You all may hate the likes of Jay Z and Kanye West, but there's no denying that these guys have helped shaped this great album in some way. Maybe Chris and Co. have finally embraced their inner gangsta.

blackchickintheback
I do agree that VH and Lost! have some hip-hop flavor. They stole from every genre this time around. :P

footyfan10
i suppose that could be true - its perspective really. i dont know if i one hundred percent agree, but it could be argued as chris recorded with both jay-z and kanye west.

talkingonsquareone89
lmao...gangsta? *shudders* gangstER works better. :P otherwise the former would be insisting that Coldplay's venturing off to crunk/reggaeton and all those other minor genres.. as i posted somewhere on this forum, hip-hop/r&b is terribly misunderstood. you'd definitely have to know the background history of the genre (i find it much more extensive than "rock"), to see that certain "beauty" of it. that, or find the humor in it too, regarding what most of "hip-hop" has turned into during the past decade or so.

Fixed
"Don't suggest it" - but the thing is, there ARE hints of hip-hop, RnB, whatever you want to call it; Will's been listening to Dr Dre, and obviously there's Chris and his Jay-Z/Kanye West adventures. Hotplay007
Just... No. Don't even suggest it. hahaha, don't be so angry with it!:P hip hop is well it's ok to me but that's just because i'm half black and i have a mom who can't stop listening to it. *shrugs* but she likes Coldplay a lot too. :) though, for Coldplay to even think about going that was is a little... well...:uhoh: creepy. gus88
Lost is very hip hop, i think its great how they have such broad influences. Id love it if Jay Z got really involved with their next album by producing it or something, i reckon it would be brilliant.
