While I do disagree with musicmad's opinion (This is probably the best album no worse than 2nd)...I do have to agree with one point...and thats alot of you seem to be "teenagers"

 

Now, while there is nothing wrong with that there are those of us who remember when Yellow was first played and saw them live at shows at small venues. Now I'm not saying that your opinion doesnt count or that musicmad ISNT older....but it is obvious that there are a fair amount of posters who either A. Just joined or B. seem to be adolescents or C. both.

 

These posters seem to get defensive anytime anyone says anything negative about the new album. It is a great album but by no means is perfection (which is what I think musicmad expected).

 

The sad reality is that most of you on here probably think me being 26 is "old" but I have known Coldplay since I was 17-18 years old and I get the feeling some of you cant remember any period before X & Y.

 

Long story short....everyones opinion counts and I think the charts say it all....Viva La Vida is a hit.

musicmad, Im so sorry you fel this way about VLVODAAHF. I think you have every right to stay in this forum, and I feel bad that you arent able to enjoy the album as much as some of us. I hope you can still enjoy it here, and still enjoy Coldplay's other albums. God luck with LP5!

How can you imply someone's uneducated in the same post that you spell 'they' with an 'a' and not be embarrassed for existing?

For everybody that's rating every song a 10 and saying this is the best ever....

 

Listen to all 4 in a row and tell me which is more enjoyable. I love the new one but the re-play value of the others is far greater IMO (yes even X&Y; I don't know why it gets all the hate, there are some fantastic songs on there)

Funny you should mention that. I was just traveling back from vacation. During this time I was able to listen to all four albums all the way through. For me, I think listening to parachutes and AROBTTH again brought back memories and also furthered my appreciation for the band. While X&Y is still my least favorite, it was a pretty good album. However, I still think VLVODAAHF is their best work to date. I never get tired of listening to it nor do I have the urge to skip a track. Maybe it's because its still new; however, I don't remember saying this of the old albums. VLV is perhaps one of my favorite albums ever, even if it isn't as epic as people thought it would be.

 

And yes, musicmad or whatever his name was shouldn't have received all that crap, but what was he thinking. He posted a poorly orchestrated first post dissing the album most everyone here is currently enjoying. We've heard his views before and they should be placed in the appropriate thread. Nuff said...

Oh well, to me... Death and all of His Friends is more of a listening album rather than a sing-along album, which is the biggest reason I like Coldplay so much -- I like to turn it up loud and my car and sing to it, there isn't as much of that in the newer album than there is in the other ones.

 

 

What Eno mentioned as their biggest flaws (same "tricks," too repetitive, too long) are some of things that I enjoyed the most... I understand bands have to reinvent themselves at some point or they'll become boring -- and while I appreciate the new stuff and think its still really good, I just prefer the older stuff on a long-term

I think Coldplay needed to experiment or they would have completely broken down. Eventually, theyll find the perfect balance of experimentation, old style, listen-ability, and sing-along abilty and create an album better than these 4 combined. I'm predicting that to be LP6 or LP7. Kind of like Radiohead with OK Computer, but it might take Coldplay a bit longer:)

well, as for me, nothing's broken down.

 

Coldplay didn't lose their unique style. lyrics are beautiful, songs are an incentive to think.

It has only just occurred to me that the majority of users that are expressing their opinions towards my thread are teenagers?? this answers the question as to why i'm not receiving any of your opinions in a civil and polite manner. Rather you have offended me by insinuating sarcasm and vindictiveness in your replies to my thread. Being a new member to this forum i would of at least! if anything expected a welcome, as a result i am now completely put off by this forum.

Go ahead and make similar comments on any forum and most ppl will instantly think you're just another troll (btw there are other threads on the same topic as yours - search bar is right at the top of the page and theres no way you can miss it) and give you attitude.
