THE OFFICIAL SURFING AND BODYBOARDING THREAD

Tell us:

So where do you like to surf?

Where would you surf the perfect wave?

What makes surfing so special to you?

Show off you gear

Tell us your near drowning experiences if you have any:laugh3:

Is body boarding or surfing better:D

Aww!

Well...I live in England and although we're surrounded by sea, there's not too many great places for it.... mostly Cornwall, Wales, Devon.

I've been bodyboarding many times, very fun :) Two years ago I went surfing for the first time and it's awesome....I iloved it.

Bodyboarding is great because its not so much effort....and when you get a good wave you can go for ageeees. Surfing is better because its's faster and when you're standing up above the water, it's an awesome feeling.

No drowning for me, although lots of falling off and getting dragged under many, many times.

I guess in Australia, it's so much better. The waves must be sooooo much bigger and better than here in England. haha! but maybe that's a good thing for me.

Maybe, but there are also sharks and box jellyfish to contend with!!:P

I love bodyboard because theres no other feeling like that you get when you come down the face of a wave. However where i live although there are waves i cannot say they are really grand. Yes Mark, jelly fish do suck! Hate stingers because they downright hurt! Never seen a shark though! Never came close to drowning either.

What about jelly-sharks?? I hear they're the worst of all!!:P

I've tried surfing and bodyboarding some times but I'm not a vrey beachy type, so have failed in all of it.

My dad is a surfer though, and I always loved to watch him surf since I was little...

I just got back from bodyboarding this morning here in South Carolina. We don't have huge waves but the beaches are nice and the water temp is just right!

SC is nice

rednecks are fun

Yeah, we're friendlier than Yankees, and are surprisingly aware that honking our horn in traffic doesn't usually result in arriving at a destination any quicker.

I found a photo from when I went surfing!!!

wow....look at that amazingly huge wave! ahahahah :laugh3::embarassed:

Awesome Kara!

Does anybody here skimboard? That's ridiculously fun. Here's a youtube vid of it:

I know a guy who does it...

That video is hilarious!

I'd be too scared that I would hit a bit of sand and I'd break my shoulder or something LMAO

i've never tried surfing. Sure, we have lots of lakes and water but the "waves" are usually soooooo tiny that it's just impossible to do that.

I always want to try it when i'm abroad though but no luck so far :(

oh i've done skimboarding :nice: loads of fun.

i'm desperate to try surfing. soon!

^ brilliant pic (:

M.

Not really too bad. It was September when I went, so the water had been warmed during our summer.

I forgot another observation I'd made about surfing...... it's damn hard work and exercise. Your arms have to be so strong and mine just couldn't cut it after three days straight! All the struggling and paddling out into the sea too. No wonder surfer guys are so fit :wink3:

Haha. That's Rodrigo Santoro. He is Brazilian and he was at the coldplay concert last year.

and he isn't a professional surfer but he does surf in real life...

and yes, he is delicious.

For more deliciousness go watch "Love, Atcually" where he strips down before not having sex with Laura Linney. Nice view of him in his undies... :wink3:
