not even watching.. is it a good game ?

Ahh Wozniacki! Excellent player, one to keep an eye on for sure. Gutted that she lost. She won the Liverpool International that I went to the other week and played some amazing tennis.

Murray's doing really well, I like him a lot. Anyone see Tipsarevic talking about psychology books in his press conference :P

Andy Murray wins third round match at Wimbledon

By Daily Mail Reporter

Last updated at 7:20 PM on 28th June 2008

Andy Murray won his third-round match at Wimbledon today against Germany's Tommy Haas.

Despite squandering his first two match points, in a somewhat nervy finish after quite a clinical performance, the tenacious Scotsman finally took the match 6-4 6-7 (4/7) 6-3 6-2 when Haas dumped a forehand into the net .

Murray now faces frenchman Richard Gasquet in the fourth round - a player he has never beaten, losing twice on the hard courts.

The support of the crowd was never in question: his mother Judy and girlfriend Kim cheered him on, whilst Kate Middleton and her mother were also enjoying a day at the tennis on Centre Court.

Murray showed his resolve in the third game of the third set, digging in when

his serve was under threat and saving two break points in a game which went in

to five deuces.

He underlined that determination by breaking the Haas serve in the next game to

regain his momentum.

The Murray serve was struggling for rhythm and fluency but Haas could not take

advantage and Murray held it together well to take the set 6-3 when Haas pushed

a forehand long to take control of the match at two sets to one.

Murray was back in the ascendancy and determined not to let Haas back into the

match and he produced one of his best shots of the tournament to break serve in

the fifth game of the fourth set.

A wonderfully whipped forehand curled down the line to land on the baseline for

a winner which effectively broke Haas' resolve.

Another superb shot, this time a backhand crosscourt, produced another break of

serve in the seventh game.

Murray has insisted the growing expectations of the home crowd would not divert him from his ambition to become the first British men's singles champion for 72 years.

Murray said: "It's not so much the expectations, it's more dealing with the sort of media requirements and a lot of people wanting different things from you about this time."

He added: "I've just learned to say no, I guess. When I first came to Wimbledon and was playing, I was agreeing to do everything, tiring myself out that way. I've got much more relaxed off the court now which helps."

That involves walking his new border terrier and playing pool with his friends and girlfriend at his Wimbledon apartment.

That, plus the support structure which contains five different coaches, including tactician Miles Maclagan, who was instantly won over by Murray's work rate when he joined the team late last year.

Maclagan said: "My first impressions from working with him were at the December training camp. He worked so hard there.

"It was a mix of physical work and tennis. He did three and a half weeks of hard physical, day in, day out. There was no moaning, no excuses, no injuries. I thought: 'Geez, this guy's tough.'"

Australia's only hope (now that Casey Dellacqua has been eliminated - by Nicole Vaidisova) is Lleyton Hewitt. The perennial underachiever is nursing a hip injury and is almost certain to get thumped today in straight sets by Roger Federer...

I'm not a Federer fan personally, I'm barracking for Nadal...hopefully this is his year!

As for the womens, it's looking like a Williams/Williams final. I naturally follow Ivanovic (what man wouldn't) and was gutted she lost. Jankovic is now the highest seed left but I don't think she's good enough to win it. Every time she plays there is some kind of injury or drama; I guess at least she makes for good theatre. My tip would be Venus to take it out again although perhaps Jankovic will surprise us, and there's an up-and-coming Polish girl by the name of Radwanska who might be a dark horse.

If it's an all-Williams final again, I won't watch it. I can't stand them, and when they play each other, it's nearly always an anti-climax.

I like Jankovic because she's always smiling.;)

^ ahh.. someone else who can't stand the Williams sisters:D ....so looking forward to that Federer vs Nadal final:rolleyes:

^ ahh.. someone else who can't stand the Williams sisters:D

They play in such an ugly way - especially Serena.

^ yes, I too see their game as quite pathetic , and you definitely singled out the worst of the two , I mean how many times does she hit the ball into the net in a match , rather than keeping it in play ARGH!!!

And she plays more like a man than a woman.

^ she certainly has man muscles:laugh3:

Britain's Andy Murray has defied all the odds and scraped through to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon after winning his match against Richard Gasquet.

The Scotsman fought back from near defeat to an extraordinary victory in the fourth round against the Frenchman in a tense and nail-biting match.

The player, seeded 12th, was two sets down and a break down to Frenchman Richard Gasquet.

But in an incredible comeback, Murray took the next three sets and put out the eighth seed.

And it was an unforgettable shot which saw him clinch the third set in a nervy tie-break.

It proved to be the turning point, and Murray's superior fitness and strength saw him through to a memorable victory.

He now goes through to the fifth round, clinching the match .5-7, 3-6, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4.

It is the first time in his career that Murray has reached the fifth round of the tournament and he had the crowds on Centre Court roaring with applause following his victory.

Tennis coach mum Judy and girlfriend Kim Sears were there to witness his triumph.

Murray repeatedly punched the air and brought the crowd to their feet as he raced through the fourth set, where eighth seed Gasquet's previously sizzling backhand winners fizzled out, to set up an exciting fifth.

Murray had been two sets down to Gasquet before his astonishing comeback

The 21-year-old Briton got an early break under his belt and Gasquet faded along with the light, allowing Murray to secure victory when the Frenchman put his return into the net.

The win after nearly four hours allowed him to reach his first grand slam quarter-final, where he will face second seed Rafael Nadal.

GAME SET AND MATCH BABY!

That was an incredible match, and a phenomenal comeback by Murray.

Respect is most definitely due!!

Can't wait for Murray-Nadal tomorrow!!:D

great match that I watched from start to finish. Was expecting the tournament referee to call it a night before the end of the 5th set :stunned:

^yes hopefully Murray can dispense with Nadal ( or as I call him Bananas!) , but I do still have a feeling we will be seeing that dreadful blazer of you know who in the final:angry:

Rafa is the favourite, but Murray has a chance of upsetting the odds. He is a far better player than Henman ever was.;)

^yes I don't think I could deal with anymore of Timmy...

^yes I don't think I could deal with anymore of Timmy...

Murray also has a "mean streak", which is needed and which Henman didn't have.

He was too nice.;)
