Their playing History!

Whose playing history??

Neil Diamond was fantastic! Everyone was singing along and having a great time in the sun. Now that's how Glasto should be, not all dark and sombre like Jay-Z.

I love Neil's version of "I'm A Believer". Definitely a big highlight.

And what a great horn section!!:D

With a performance like that, he wouldhave been a better headliner than boring Jay-Z!!;)

And The Verve sounded awesome, as ever.:D

On "Life's An Ocean" they even went funky!!

I was also impressed with Manu Chao.;)

Amy back in hospital at 3am, just hours after scuffling with a fan at Glastonbury

Amy Winehouse was back in a clinic yesterday after a chaotic appearance at the Glastonbury Festival during which she appeared to attack a fan in front of 80,000 witnesses.

The troubled 24-year-old singer, who has a long history of drug abuse, seemed to rain blows on the man as those surrounding him reeled back in astonishment.

Television cameras captured the incident, which happened after she had descended from the stage to sing her most famous hit, Rehab.

article-1030208-01C841D700000578-150_468x614.jpg Back to hospital: After Amy's weekend of gigs, she returned to a private London clinic in the early hours of this morning for further medical treatment

Crowd members claimed the singer lashed out in response to a derogatory comment about her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, after she spent much of the show making slurring references to 'my Blakey'.

Her publicist said she had reacted instinctively when someone tried to pull her trademark beehive hairdo.

Festival organiser Michael Eavis's version of events was that the man had made a grab at Miss Winehouse's breasts.

Whatever the explanation, however, it was yet another unedifying incident in a life which has descended in turmoil.

Last month the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute Miss Winehouse after she was filmed apparently smoking crack cocaine.

article-0-01C7F94800000578-963_468x770.jpg Sparkling: Amy Winehouse looked radiant in a blue sequined dress

Video footage of her apparently snorting Ecstasy and cocaine was handed to police in January and she has been in and out of rehab ever since.

Last week she was in a London clinic, said to be having treatment for emphysema, but she made an appearance on Friday night in Hyde Park at the concert for Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday.

On Saturday night she faced the huge crowd in front of Glastonbury's main stage, spitting out her chewing gum towards them before launching into her first number.

She appeared increasingly unsteady as the show progressed, and launched into a series of rambling monologues referring to Fielder-Civil, who is on remand in Pentonville Prison.

This caused a section of the audience to jeer, particularly when she had to restart a song after missing her cue. She responded by demanding: 'Where are your manners?'

Then, shadowed by a security guard, she aimed several blows at the fan who had particularly annoyed her.

A nearby witness said: 'I could not hear exactly what was said - it was some comment about Blake. Amy reacted by just losing it. She leaned into the crowd and whacked him.

'It wasn't just a little slap, she then kind of retreated back to the stage before charging in again for another go like she was scrapping in a pub.'

Within hours, Miss Winehouse was back at the clinic.

I'm back!!!!

and it was amazing..Glastonbury I love thee!!!

I thought Jay Z was absolutely brilliant..I forgot how many songs of his I know... and it was awesome. He also didn't bring out any special guests which IMO was a very good idea. He proved he could do it. Well done Michael Eavis for bringing something different to Glastonbury that was awesome!

Kings of Leon were also fantastic for me. Charmer and On Call, soooooooooo good.

I saw Kate Nash, Yeasayer, Santogold, Editors, The Whip, Foals, Vampire Weekend (fan-fucking-tastic), Neil Diamond (LOL), Martha Wainwright, Goldfrapp, Fratellis (boring, predictable, shit).....and loads of others.

Amy Winehouse was rubbish......forgetting words, blabbering on about Blakey and that punching incident. She should go away before it's too late.

but of course, it's everything else (stalls, markets, workshops, the food stalls, circuses, quirky details everywhere) that makes it Glastonbury :)

^Well from what I saw Kings Of Leon, Neil Diamond and The Verve (of course) were the most impressive, along with Manu Chao.

Kate Nash is also good value because of her cheery, quirky style.

However, Jay-Z left me totally cold. Oasis should sue him for murdering their song, and he should leave out all the political nonsense because nobody wants to hear that sh*t at a NON-political music festival.:veryangry:

Just got to say, I watched JayZ last night on demand and he was FUCKING AWESOME. Wish I'd been there :D

I'm glad I wasn't, although I would have loved to be in crowd for either Neil Diamond or The Verve.;)

Some people eh. Too set in their ways to enjoy something slightly different!

I love Jay Z mainly for his tunes & awesome beats/melodies, and singing along to the lyrics is also great. I had a talk to someone else about his lyrics being political sometimes but I don't mind. It's better than say, the Killers songs that are really good, but so so predictable lyrically. blah blah love blah blah something else. Jay Z's lyrics make you think about them. I don't mind if he had political messages to spread....no one is interested in politics today so if someone like him can give those messages to young people then it can only be a good thing I think.

Anyway. I was there and it rocked. SO THERE!

I wish you had been there with me Jen! It was great fun. He played 'Give it to me'....amazing tunage, heh.

James, there were probably about 20 socks stalls or more. hahaha.

ok grandpa :P

This is only a question of decent, uplifting music or ©rap. Nothing else.

I don't care if the band or singer has only just materialised.

I would have no problem watching the likes of Alicia Keys, Elbow, or even the recent American Idol winner David Cook if they were up there.

Lauryn Hill, Angie Stone and Mary J. Blige are also great on the R&B side too (although I'm not suggesting any of them would make great "headline" acts at Glasto.

It just so happens that Neil Diamond (an oldie) on this occasion was the most entertaining, along with Kings of Leon (who aren't too old as far as I know).

This is purely to do with genre, not age.:smug:

Rap just doesn't do it live - period.

I think The Verve's set was a glastobury moment, along with Radiohead in 97 doing Exit Music (for a film)

Did you watch his set?

And for got's sake love....Alicia Keys...Lauryn Hill....This isn't 1996 :laugh3:

I'm sure Neil Diamond was great but I just think it's nice to have a bit of variety. That's why they have more than one headliner. To give you some choice.

And I was only kidding pops :D X

I love it at the end of big pimpin' when he's going 'bounce, bounce, bounce' and then hard knock life kicks in....AMAZING hehe! And Beyonce's there bouncing away as well :D

Well she's biased - she's his wife.;)

Actually, I would even have preferred to see her up there than Jay-Z. At least she has some songs with some melody that you can sing along to.;)

I was hoping they might do something together but like Kara said, it's good he just did it without any guests. Proved he doesn't need anyone else.

I can just see you bopping away to Crazy in Love right now ;) haha

I was just giving some examples. Alicia Keys wasn't around in 1996 as far as I know.;)

Although on a non-R&B level I could also mention the likes of Kate Nash, Amy Macdonald and KT Tunstall, all of whom I enjoy. James Morrison too. None of those are oldies.

I'm sure Neil Diamond was great but I just think it's nice to have a bit of variety. That's why they have more than one headliner. To give you some choice.

That's fine, but my point is that somebody like Jay-Z should NOT be the headline act on the MAIN stage. It's all wrong, and Noel Gallagher was right for once.

I've played it many times as a DJ. It's commercial, so that's fine as it has universal appeal.;)
