fakfak
Can anyone who has been to the promo gigs tell me what guitar jonny uses to play Strawberry Swing?
Tnspieler1012
Best vid I could find. You only see Jonny at the beginning and end, it's hard to make out the silhouette, but it looks like just his red and black thinline.
fakfak
Thanks, I've been looking for a decent clip, but with the bootlegs taken from phone cameras, It's really hard to make things out.:\ It's a really interesting tone he gets on this track (though part of the sound is the backing track)
dorffy
Sounds like a delay that reverses the previous tone.
chuck kottke
I still think Johnny is playing inside a large culvert!:laugh3: But that was a great performance done live by them!!
fakfak
I've heard he used the Roland Space Echo for some of the tracks on the new album. It can be used to reverse delay, so perhaps this is what we're hearing...
el_nino
anybody know the delay times (in milliseconds) he's using on this one? I thought I had it down at 700ms, but I don't think that's right anymore.
Malcolm-Edge
700 is way to much. Its more near 400. Anyone know the BPM of the song?
fakfak
"700 is way to much. Its more near 400." I'd guess it's somewhere around the middle of those two amounts (closer to the low end). There's still something weird going on tonally in addition to straight delay. The Micro POG can produce effects, similar to those heard here with the "reversed" delay, but I don't think it's used in this song.
Malcolm-Edge
It is 100% a reverse there. It also sounds like he's looping it. he goes overtop of the opening rift after.
c0ldplay420
I feel like he is using a reverse reverb because i tried playing it with that and it sounded somewhat similar
fakfak
Someone told me that the Eventide unit does good reverse reverb, so it could be with that, but I don't know enough about that particular unit to have any idea if this is accurate or not. yellowtalk
well i know he does have an eventide rack unit.
fakfak
"well i know he does have an eventide rack unit." That's why I mentioned it. There's nothing else in his set up that I can see that sounds like that. I still think it sounds like some kind of tape delay, but he doesn't have one...
