ryansn
Summary: Basically a bunch of idiots idolizing Radiohead and calling CP fluffy knockoffs with terrible live performances. One guy stated CP's live concerts were sub par and boring :laugh3: Others called them shitty and terrible. It's funny because they all seem to think Radiohead is the God of British music  http://www.honestforum.com/hf-chat/160606-coldplay-vs-radiohead-opinions-please.html
strawberryfields
Radiohead is fairly godly, but Coldplay is godlyER. :P
blackchickintheback
Radiohead is Ok, I've never even heard of them before I came to coldplaying. :D I was like, "Who is this band they keep comparing Coldplay too?" and I finally googled them.
UrbanBuckeye33
Ya Radiohead is far from popular over here in the USA, that's why.
yamfox
In Rainbows is ok, but it's the only album I can think of that you can listen to like 2 times a month and after that it starts getting boring. Sorry Radiohead-ers!
bellynelly
Don't see the fuss with Radiohead, carn't say they are all that special. I don't like any of their music.
crazyduckette
I really hate to say this, but I saw Coldplay and Radiohead within a week of each other, and Radiohead were just on a whole different playing field. I still love Coldplay, but....yeah....I had to say it.
gus
LOL all that we saw was free gigs,tv shows and stuff not even the real tour. i dont like radiohead. they are bleeding by their wounds the tour is gonna be different and sorry radiohead fans but the viva la vida songs are much harder to do it live than the radiohead stuff. maybe my opinion doesnt matter since i dont like radiohead and i like coldplay so who cares cp is more succesfull so i dont mind. Mimixxx
I hate to say it but I think Coldplay's performances are sub par at the moment too. They are a little rusty, as it's been said, but they're nothing compared to 6 years ago. I understand that some of the music on the stage can't be recreated live and so using backing loops for that is fine. But quite a bit of what they are lopping CAN be played live. My biggest gripe being Lovers in Japan. I hate that he doesn't play the piano part and instead opts to run around the stage. Lost! and CSC are also really heavily backed. Chris is too concerned with trying to entertain people by running around and dancing which affects his performance terribly. His voice suffers because he's out of breath. And when he does actually play he doesn't concentrate, again far too concerned with being a showman, so continually hits duff notes and makes mistakes. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bitching based on the few shows we've seen, we've got to wait until the tour really kicks off. But it's following the same pattern as the Twisted Logic tour. He needs to prioritise slightly. I would love to see TerryVision retired and them playing music together the way that they used to. Mixing up the setlist, trying out new songs they wrote on tour, you know? They should look back to the AROBTTH tour, they had it spot on back then, IMO. The perfect mix of Chris' personality and professionalism.
crazyduckette
Radiohead apparently practiced 70 songs or something like that for their tour and played different setlists each show they did. I had tickets for the two London shows and had to pull out of the second night. I was disappointed I couldn't go, because they played a whole different setlist!! That is what I'd like to see Coldplay do. Pulling different songs out of the bag each night. The tour was so predictable last time, I really hope that they mix it up this time around! I have a bad feeling that they won't though. I love Coldplay, but I agree with Mich.... it's got to the stage where everything seems to be about Chris pulling silly faces, and running around the stage. Take me back to the earnest and beautiful shows of the AROBTTH tour and the shows on the Live dvd!!!!
Mimixxx
Definitely. That's what I would sincerely hope they were doing in this gap before the tour starts, practicing some other songs. So they can mix it up. Are we really going to go the whole year with no Scientist? No Politik? No Death and all His Friends? Or Yes? I know that that probably is going to be the case, but I would like to think that it isn't. I hate to keep mentioning it but during the AROBTTH tour we had B-sides, new songs, old songs, we got Ladder to the Sun, Moses, Gravity, Poor Me, World Turned Upside Down and each night it was different. Ive heard amazing things about their shows (friends traveling all over the world to see them). The last time I saw them was for Pablo Honey which was obviously eons ago. It will be interesting to see how they compare with Coldplay in October.

I hope the guys would play a completely different setlist, especially if they are playing two nights in a row at the same venue. Maybe if we get enough people, we can send these suggestions to Debs? Or start a thread and send her the link? Is Debs's email still the same? It has been awhile since i emailed her.
Death Hill
Am I missing something? I like Radiohead, and quite a few of their songs but somehow don't view them as some music deity. I love Street Spirit, My Iron Lung, (save the gasps) Creep etc. But what is the "religious experience" (as one RH fan put it) that I'm missing. Do I have to listen to their albums countless of times before I 'get it'? Someone please enlighten me.

The way I see it is Radiohead are the equivelent of books like Animal farm / 1984 / War and Peace (books they've referenced in their works especially hail to the theif and Kid A) they're the high brow interlectual band and like those books are refered to as high brow, intelectual and genius. Coldplay they're more the shy kids who write poetry books about their feelings. Nothing wrong with that at all, except of course in the grand scheme of things Radiohead (being the high brow intelectual band) will always get the most recognition. StephenG
Travis annoy me, I love the band but they release the most Travisy songs as albums and leave anything geniunely intresting as a B-side.
