Violin

Featured Replies

Methinks the violin in Yes is one the most surprising things I've ever heard in a song for a very long time. How about you? What d'you think of it? How ingenious and pleasant is it??

I agree. It shocked me when I first heard the song. I was like, "WTF? Violin solos, what's this?"

But then it grew on me:D

It's an awesome sound and Im glad theyre going outside of guitar, drum, bass, piano (typical band set) and using less common instruments to play main parts. It makes them sound so original.

I love the violin in general so having Coldplay involve them in this song and VLV too right? is amazing. It does make the song more striking.

i so love the violin on yes....the first time I heard it I was completely blown away by it!...

on the new video of viva u can see Will playing the violin, I really wonder if he can really do it(as he is such a genius in what music concernes)...I mean it would be sooo coool to see them/him on stage playing something on violin live...I so love the sound of that instrument!

Yeah, I love the violin too and I love I Am The Walrus, so this song just had to be one of my favs!

i agree about being blown away, the first time i heard VLV i got shivers :D

for their show, they dub in the violins and other stringed instruments (not including guitar/bass)...but when they recorded it, whooooo played the strings?!

I just realized (after watching a video of them playing live) that the downward sliding bit in between verses is actually played by guy on his bass. I originally thought that since there are two prominent guitars there, that one was backtracked. I also think it's cool that Jonny plays the violin bit on guitar.

they probably got a profesionist....don't know though

His name is Davide Rossi and apparently eveything you hear is played on one instrument. He has an electric cello that can reach all the necessary notes.
